I Am Alllll In On DINO but. ...

I agree with you .. a division championship is a long way off. Unfortunately, so is 7-5 or 8-4 given our current schedule. I know we were there 3 seasons ago, but that's history. Next year, we're going to start off with Colgate, USF, UConn and ND. I'd be happy with 2 wins there. Then, we play Clemson, FSU, LV, V-T and Pitt. Realistically, can we beat any of those teams? Who knows. But if not, we're 2-7. That's it right there ... a losing season if we're lucky (i.e, we don't have trouble with BC, WF, or the other 3 games we schedule).

This program need a colossal talent upgrade. While we're working on that, Babers' new scheme will help us score points against bigger, faster teams -- that's who we play in the ACC. I love Babers attitude, his ideas, his excitement for the game. He comes from a military family .. all the values are there. He obviously wants a "relentless" "Physical" defense. So I love what I'm hearing. I just hope they step out of their bodies on the recruiting circuit .. because that's where the ACC games are won and lost every year.

It will take time. In 2014, Baylor was 26th in recruiting. In 2009, Briles first full cycle class, they were 52nd. In 2007, the year before he got there, they were 77th.

And that's in a very talent rich state obviously, where he had pretty deep connections. He saw an increase pretty quickly based on his own acumen and personality, but he needed to show some success to make the next step.

2015 year you guys were 61. 2016, throw it away, because who knows what he'll be able to put together, it's kind of a freebie. Maybe next 2017 he get's you in the high 40s, and then with some success on the field you're within striking distance of the 30s where some pretty successful programs find themselves regularly. No doubt on-field success will be a part of it, but I wouldn't panic about 2017's class, and certainly wouldn't judge him by 2016, unless he puts together something positive. Your personal recruiting philosophy or ability only goes so far before you show it on the field.

Good points and no doubt it will take some time. My concern is that attendance is way down ... and I'd hate to lose what little moment SS built for the team. Talent at the skill positions is especially critical ... even adding one 4-5 star WR, or a big fast running back would make an enormous difference. I was kidding with someone a few weeks ago that if we had Furnette, we might have beaten LSU, Clemson, Virginia and Pitt. All those games were relatively close ... one special player and just maybe we go 8-4 instead of 4-8. So I'll hang in there while Babers stocks the cupboards. But all we need is one, maybe 2 special kids and we're off and running with the fastest team on turf.

If he doesn't put together a improved class in 2017 he's not doing the job he was hired to do. One of his main selling points is that he is an established coach with recruiting chops. I agree that trying to hold together 2016 is a challenge, but I'm hoping he can plug some holes with a juco or two and maybe pull a rabbit out of his hat that would be an nice upside surprise. Frankly, I liked last years class a bit better than this year. Our overall talent needs a major upgrade pretty much across the board if we ever want to get out of the ACC basement. Lets see what Dino can do! I trust the coaches/Next man up
