The validity stems from a lack of dual-threat qb (and I'm not talking specifically about Chance) who could have challenged Devito and offer a skillset (i.e., legit running threat, extend plays with legs) to counter some of the offense's weaknesses. Dungey was a dual-threat and we never replaced him. I acknowledge finding a good qb isn't dime-a-dozen, but the cupboard has been bare for awhile. Tommy is tough and a pocket passer, but his pocket presence and our o-line aren't great. I don't think he's particularly accurate in the pocket, but for any of our qbs to have a chance we need to move the pocket, bootlegs to tight end etc. The slant seemed to be the only pass we could complete today. Our head coach is from the offensive side of the ball and supposed to be innovative, but our offense remains anything but and predictable. Whatever happened to 'Orange is the new fast'? This game and others were calling for a change of tempo. Go into a two-minute offense to see what it can spark. Did we even attempt a running back screen? What's up with two runs inside the tackles inside the 5 when it never worked despite doing over and over again? In this current climate it is hard to see us making a head coaching change, but Steve Addazio would be my pick if/when we do. I'm still surprised Boston College let him go. He's in his first season at Colorado State and I think we could get him considering.
