Having watched all 3 games again.. Malowe Wax is diagnosing plays faster than any underclassman player we have had in the middle in a decade.. He is not getting a ton of run.. but when he does his tape is so impressive.. he has the size and athleticism we have needed in the middle but his awareness is on the level i see with upperclassman from the traditional powers... He needs to get just a bit stronger but he is already 230lbs... Not sure how fast he is(doesnt look slow on tape).. but he has quickness and when you combine that with his vision/diagnosis/awareness... I would not be surprised if he gets more time as the year unfolds.. I don't think we can keep him off the field especially as teams try to impose their will running right at us. We have about 4 players younger than sophomores on D that absolutely Pop on tape(Williams Pops the most) but the middle is just so difficult for young players.. both physically and mentally.. Wax gets the nod for me...

Wax poetic, SuRaider307!

Wasn't he recruited as a RB and converted to LB? Our young defense is exciting, who ever thought that under Dino our defense would be the best side of the ball?

Yes but I wouldn't say converted. He was a LB in high school and all the awards he won, like All-State and All-Met Player of the Year Award were at LB. His senior year stats winning POY were 111 tackles, five sacks, three interceptions, four fumble recoveries and five forced fumbles
