But several of the issues that derailed the team are fixable.

the D is fine so far,. Had they gotten the TOs instead of Rutgers getting the 3 we probably win the game by 20. had we gotten the refs calls instead of Rutgers we probably win by 20..

The offense is a mess but not completely broken. I think we can clean up the self inflicted wounds and that helps.. dont start every drive with 80 yds to go.,

We were the better team and lost. it happens.. But it took like 10 bad things to make it happen.. We could have just truly sucked all over .

Its like writing a term paper and the first draft gets all red-marked. doesnt mean you still cant that B- you wanted..

My problem is we seem to have the same post every game. If we fix A,B,C,D and E we cruise.
Also I like our D but until we play an O that actually functions, I have to withhold judgement
You are right. But will take longer than one year to fix what is not working, especially on offense.

There was a clear focus on bringing in OL in last cycle, same with a QB who we were not scrambling to sign right before signing day. It will take time for them to be ready.

This was never going to be a 8 win year, but the building blocks are there.

I also think Dino is still the right guy. He runs a clean program and still looks to have the team behind him. If he didn't, I think players like Bear and Black would be playing on another P5 team and those are the leaders of this team.

the angst from me is driven by the fact that we have a tenured QB with one of the best offensive coaches, pre-tenure, and yet the offense continues to be the largest problem. I expected that Dino would either right the ship this season, or it was time to move on. I have zero doubt the guy can be a high quality head coach. However, I think the train has fallen too far off the rails for him to correct. Given the offense is already operating in a very elementary form, making things more simple doesn’t seem to be on the table. I’m not sure the angst is unwarranted, given the train has nearly fully derailed following yesterday’s game.

Tabling the QB discussion and offense, overall, when you have special teams issues and also dumb penalties, that’s coaching.

We’ll never have the depth of other schools, but being disciplined and winning specials has to be the baseline with what we’re bringing to the table.

I WISH the angst was undeserved and the problems fixable, but the sacks, penalties were present LAST year
and the turnovers were not(to this extent). And Dino punting down 2 scores...WHY? Because HE KNEW we had a snowball's chance in hell of picking up that yardage. That tells us something...

We weren’t the better team. Better teams don’t stumble their way to 258 total yards and 7 points. They don’t get punts blocked and take sacks because the QB can’t find a secondary receiver.

I know you’re the silver lining poster, I appreciate that, sincerely. But we stink, and have stunk for a while now. We got beat, at home, by a team that’s going to be whalloped in the B1G by anyone competent. We’ll eek out a couple more wins, because the ACC ain’t good, but we’re not better than most anybody.

You can’t isolate issues across several components and correct them fast enough when the train is off the tracks. The issues are too deep rooted to focus on the surface level. They need to truly reflect, problem solve and then fix the issues.

The approach Dino has displayed to this point suggests he will continue to try to bandaid the problems. Bandaids hold for a bit but assuredly will fall off again. Any effective manager/executive of a business knows this is a fact.

They had all of last season, plus the off-season, to problem solve and correct. They didn’t do it. It’s likely far too late at this point.

The offense can always be fixed, but Dino clearly doesn’t have the same confidence he had in ‘16 and ‘17 to fix it.

We told ourselves it could be fixed in ‘19.
Told ourselves ‘20 was a write off.
It’s now looking even worse in 2021.

We’ve played Ohio and Rutgers and not thrown a TD. We didn’t even use Jarveon or Abdhul yesterday to mix things up.

It’s fixable but I have no faith Dino or Gilbert have the know how

You mean we won't score 30 ppg this year?

We do stink but I think we can be mediocre. We aren't far. It all starts IMO with who comes out at QB for Albany.

Yep. I came here and read the reactions before I watched the game and there’s a huge disconnect. We play them 5 times, we win 4. They are an awful offense and out D played well for most of the game. Refs were so bad and killed our drives and extended theirs all day.

Dino from his foul on did the team no favors and I cannot stand the punt decision. But we should have been up by 2 scores at least.

No more belief. Not for him unless he somehow wins 6 of our remaining games and I’ll still doubt him

The sorts of fixable problems from yesterday from the staff are unacceptable in year 6. Grade of B- is the best I can hope for this season from what I've seen, and it still gets Dino canned.

Eh. We’ll see. Rutgers is lousy, and our O was a pathetic mess. Dino once again vomited all over himself in a week 2 OOC game. I’m done hoping for anything different.

We've been able to say this for several losses the last 3 seasons and yet, nothing seems to change. How does a team get 3 or 4 illegal formations in the same game (multiple times on punts???)? How does a 5th year QB still not go through his progressions faster or be able to keep a pass close enough to in bounds to give a WIDE open WR a chance at making a catch? Why can't we get a qb who understands down and distance, time remaining and game score?
What has me most down about the program is that so many of our losses look strikingly similar in year 6.

We used to run this up temp offense and began taking the game over midway through the 3rd. We just ran out of time most games. Then the talent diminished due to youth so it didn’t make sense to try and go up tempo. It was better to shorten the game. But now we aren’t depleted. So it seems like we should ramp it back up and wear teams down.

Well stated.

Yesterday left me disappointed, not even angry. The three things that made me angry: 1) the end of game punt, 2) the refs perhaps racist (sorry) call on Dino and 3) mental errors in the form of Taj drop/fumble and the illegal formations.

If we beat Liberty, it's all good. 3-1. But #3 combined with crappy O makes that seem unlikely. But not impossible by any stretch.
