I'd imagine he'd be ok. Once you're on antibiotics, step usually clears up within a day or two. I know a little about the subject, having had strep three times this winter! #goodtimes.

It may feel like it clears up in a couple days on antibiotics, but you need to take the whole dosage/time to make sure.

I think they were separate instances, it was just that my family was a cesspool of disease this winter. My son had it three times as well, daughter once, and wife once. Just kept passing it between each other like a hot potato.
