I may be alone but I'm still on the Dino train. We have been a sucky team for a very long time. It's hard to get the suck out. The improvement from last year to this is not just 2 wins. The team is genuinely better. If it weren't for penalties (called and not called), a great punter and a really bad prevent defense, we'd be 5-1. I would not be surprised to get to 7-5 or even 8-4. But even if this team doesn't win every game, I will still like Dino Babers. He represents the university well. I think we'll be pleasantly surprised the rest of the year.

You are not alone. LGO!

I go back and forth about him. I was furious with him after the FSU game and wanted him out of here but that was more being emotional than anything (fans do that). If he could just fix his clock management and be more prepared in certain situations he would be more than good. Hoping he learns from some of the recent mistakes.

He’s made mistakes but he has also shown he is willing to adapt and learn… my view is bi polar also but most of the negative dissipates after the emotions calm down. I think people are more frustrated that we are so obviously close vs just being plain old bad… people like the drama of finding a new coach, it’s like buying a new pair of sneakers. I usually stop caring how clean they are after a couple weeks. I want dino to be here a long time and be successful, we need stability. If we are in every game competitively this year then I am fine with it but the coach’s need to have more discipline to the players ( not celebrating so quick) and have a damn plan for any and all scenarios.

The issue is, and why I’m out on him currently, is that he doesn’t think he has made any mistakes.

He literally thinks that at FSU and against Wake he coached a flawless game. We can all see that he didn’t.

Just accept that you made some mistakes and improve. Instead he doubles down and says he wouldn’t change any decision he made in the future and that he thinks he’s one of the better coaches in clock management.

We can clearly see he isn’t and that’s what frustrates me…I’m okay with him saying “I’m going to work on it” but he hasn’t and won’t say it

It is Year 6. It is what it is. Work on clock management? Work on decision making? If you don't have it by now...it ain't gonna happen.

Definition of insanity is doing same thing over and over again and expecting different result.

Hope is not a strategy. But it seems like hope is what is current plan. Hope things get better.

Let me add some numbers. Facts. Reality. Not hope. 3-17 ACC record in dating back to 2019. Before Clemson game. 24/7 ranking of #13 in ACC FB recruiting. Which is about ballpark norm over 6 years.

I could not have said this any better, thank you!!

EVERYONE on this forum wants Dino to be successful. He is in year six and we do see that this team is talented, much more so then previously. However, his decision making has cost his teams (now and in the past) ball games. Most on here including me are good with going for the win to end a game. Having that chaos on the sideline before going for it is just insane. In addition, conversing with several different coaches on whether to take a penalty or not doesn't give me the buy-in for Dino to be the long term head coach at SU. I certainly hope he proves me wrong and SU goes on a long bowl streak.

This is made up.

He said it makes no sense to second guess things after the fact which is much different than thinking you handled it perfectly.

I don't think this is true. There are multiple threads going right now with posters calling for a new coach regardless of what our final record is this season.
Four out of five years of failure, and there is no faith on this season, will do that to fans. If not for Dungey's magical season DB would not be highly thought of by many more. We the fans just want SU to win whether that is DB or someone else. DB has NOT proven he is that person.

I think I'd like to see the staff remain in tact for next season considering the players coming back.
Shrader, Tucker, Bergeron, Queeley, Jackson, Benson, Alford, Ellis, Bleich, Illoa, maybe D Davis.
Wax, Jones, Thompson, Lockett, Darton, Okechukwu, Garrett, Nunn, Duce, etc.

Lots of talented pieces will return. I think the improvement that I see on the field (not record) makes me comfortable for one final make or break run. Biggest offseason stuff will be fortifying the DL with transfers and finding a WR.

It’s not fair to say he thinks he coached a flawless game. I believe he said to press that everyone needs to do better incl coaches

I understand the frustration. I’m frustrated too but this team has ACC level players at every position (Except maybe WR) which wasn’t always the case. We could easily be 6-0 at this point. The talent is there.

No doubt Dino stayed with Devito too long and has made some wrong calls. Other stuff like getting the play in, in time ultimately lands on him but there could have been a breakdown from Gilbert getting play called to players celebrating too long ….. we don’t know what really happened there

I don't disagree with that. I disagree that "everyone wants Dino to succeed."
I do, however, because that means SU succeeds.

So then scrapping things and starting over yet again would seem insane as well, no? Hoping a new coach can turn things around.

I'm pretty disappointed in some things I see on game days, but I also see real improvement. At this point I'm more on board with keeping the trajectory than starting over again

Make better game day decisions. Team needs it. We can win 3 more games.

If he's not making them in year six, he's unlikely to ever make them. People (not saying you) keep saying he just needs to do xyz, the problem is we have more then enough evidence that this is who he is as a coach and he clearly doesn't feel any of this is an issue based on his own comments. People are trying to will Babers into being the guy here but the W/L record speaks volumes.

Darton? Truthfully, even if Dino returns, there's no guarantee everyone else returns.

Agreed, per syracuse.com SU has lost the most players to the portal since the start of camp in the whole of D1. Now I don't think that foreshadows a bunch of people leaving if Dino returns next year but certainly we can't guarantee more people including starters wont' seek greener pastures.

I think this is what’s bothering me most. At some point, stand up on that podium and say this is on me. I needed to do better, be better, prepare better at “X”.

Accountability, I’d feel better if it was acknowledged and addressed. But sometimes his answers come off like deflection or excuses.

It’s okay if you’re not flawless, but don’t insult everyone by making it seem like they don’t understand.

Total nothing-burger.

Taj is really the only one that kinda, sorta hurts a little, but it may end up being addition by subtraction. **

(** not unlike with hoops, when Jonny, Paul, and Devo all departed, and many people were crying that the sky was falling, and we were DOOMED. The "shut it down" season proved all the naysayers wrong.)

LaBrosse was apparently homesick. It happens.

Most of those other guys were buried on the depth chart, so I get why they'd want to try their chances for PT elsewhere.
Next man up!!
