I hate Comcast

YouTube TV is awesome, love it. Went to FIOS internet only and YTTV and saved myself $70 a month.
So refreshing to see them continue to carry YES while negotiating. Cable companies policy is to drop to put pressure on the networks during negotiations. But if things don’t work out I guess I will try Hulu TV.

I hate Comcast too but, I don't have a choice for internet in southern Vermont. I miss my Fios back in NJ. Fios is the only cable/internet provider I haven't hated.
Funny thing about Comcast too is that they keep trying to get me to switch to Comcast Business, which will only increase my costs two-fold, but they tell me they "guarantee" 1000 Mbps. I already pay for the fastest service and it's wildly inconsistent. I really doubt they will string new fiber optics just to my house if I switched. I could go on about the Comcast scams, but I won't.

Everyone hates whoever their cable provider is. My spectrum package, at full retail was like $230. That's internet, phone, cable. I had 2 boxes, 1 with dvr service, and HBO. 2 freeking 30!!!
But with spectrum, you're considered a new customer if you drop cable for 31 days. On the 31st day, I got that same package at a new customer rate for $139 a month for 6 months. After 6 months, canceled again, but then they change the rules, and waiting 31 days no longer works. So my next move, was cancel cable, and switch to youtubetv. My phone and internet with spectrum is now $80.00. Youtube tv is $50. So I'm paying $130 for everything now. I love youtubetv. Although i don't get the 300 some channels I was getting with cable, I'm getting every channel I care about including locals, and all the espns, and acc network, plus free dvr storage, and the best part is, I no longer need to call spectrum every 6 months and scam them into a better deal.

Comcast/Xfinity has customers by the short ones. If you want to eliminate TV from your package, your savings will be $ZERO. Then, you need to pay $50 per month for Hulu or the like.

you have no other internet choice ?

Most internet speed sales are a marketing ploy. Say, 100 gigabit customers will go into a blade that has a max capacity of 2.4 G. They know you cant use it, but will gladly charge you for it, because you think you need it.

The most bandwidth sensitive use for residential use, is streaming. So know what you need..

1 streaming HD channel uses 3Mbit. 5Mbit recommended. 10Mbit is fine for 2 TVs.

1 4K stream uses 15Mbit. 20 Mbit recommended. Another HD tv? 25Mbit is fine.

I, personally, only pay for 30 Mbit fiber. I'm not going to max out. Most companies will capitalize on lack of knowledge, and push their customers into a bigger package, at a higher price point. Know what you need, so you aren't paying more for something you cant use.

Moving to Connecticut very soon and worried about my cable options. YouTubeTV is definitely in the mix.

Nope, town only authorized one.
Most locations have only one cable provider. However, phone and other utilities with right of way access should be able to offer alternative services. I’ve only seen phone providers (i.e. AT&T) do so.
If I ran a gas or water utility I’d look into running fiber along my lines to give residents another, better, alternative.

You're thinking old school. Many local exchange carriers are carrying TV products. While it "looks" like a cable box, it is no different than streaming, so they avoid local cable franchise fees. (FIOS excluded) Its for folks that still think they need a cable "box".

It's still just about bandwidth.

To the poster in southern VT. Many VT towns have put in their own fiber. Plenty of examples on how to get it done. Other towns have partnered with local exchange carriers, to share the cost of implementing a fiber solution.

It's not a matter of right of way. Telco/power owns the poles, and cable is the renter. In VT, all poles were recently sold to power. All others simply rent space.

Sounds exactly like what I was saying. Local municipalities control overall access. Historically that was one cable provider, one telephone provider and utilities.

And, yes, it is all about bandwidth. BTW: if you use FiOS for your TV products and the box is made by Cisco then you're running a lot of my code 24x7. ;)

Nice.

On my end, I'll only pay for a TV network based streaming service during football season. It's really just for ACCN, ESPN, etc.(antenna for locals)

Paying someone to advertise to me bugs the crap out of me. ;-)

Doing this in South Carolina right now. Added bonus, getting all the local channels from back home

Your locals will go away in about 2 months IIRC. To get them back someone would have to sign back in at your house in NY

Speaking of internet speed. I just have the basic speed and it is fine for one 1080P TV

Had AT&T Fiber installed this morning. I CAN'T WAIT to call Comcast tomorrow and tell them to go off for good. Comcast really is the worst.

and the ESPN's are regional coverage...big.

Numerous times, Comcast has received lower customer satisfaction rates than...(wait for it)... The IRS.

Good luck to those without any other viable solutions.

Bad news.

Not a huge loss for me, as I only watch the Yanks casually. This sucks the big one for die hards though. I wouldn't be surprised to see them bring Yes back. That's a huge market.
I'll be content just watching a few games in the summer on on fox

I just lost FOX FL and FOX Sun today. I'll give YoutubeTV until May 1st to figure it out. If not, hello Hulu TV.

the streamers are stuck in the cycle of trying to pick off customers with low pricing but yet coming into contract cycles that will cause price increases pretty soon.
