Everything about that insipid fan base pisses me off.
Case in point: they are playing East Carolina right now in the Military Bowl, losing 10-7 in the 3rd quarter. East Carolina is at their own 32, and decides to take the risk of going for it on 4th and 1 despite being in their own territory.
Not only does the running back get the first down, but he has a big run, spins out of a scrum without really being touched, and sprints for a 68 yard touchdown. Pandemonimum in the arena.
But WAIT -- the refs huddle, and then wave the touchdown off, because one of them blew the play dead after the first down. The running back was barely touched -- it wasn't like one of those situations where there's a giant pile of moving bodies and momentum stops, so the refs blow it dead. There was no reason whatsoever for the play to be blown dead. But the refs screw ECU and benefit Pitt by waving off the touchdown inexplicably.
The crowd is going crazy, the players are rattled, and the next play is an offensive holding call. Boo birds are even louder now.
On the next play, Pitt blitzes and forces a fumble that the defense returns for a touchdown. So instead of being up 17-7, ECU is now losing 10-14.
I hate Pitt -- life is a wheel.
