that Brandon Triche is gonna break out. This kid, simply put, is just not a good shooter. He works hard,he hustles,I think he's a good teamate- but there is definitely a ceiling to his productivity.
I'm begging him to prove me wrong but we're running out of time.

I've said it since his Freshman year, he's your dream 3rd guard. The perfect back-up, but is pretty much perfectly average in every single facet of the game. Which is fine, I love the kid and I've enjoyed seeing him be a bit more emotional this year, but he's never going to dominate imo.

I can't think of a single thing he does that's above average. Sometimes when he's having a bad stretch on offense people will say he plays great defense, but that's kind of myth too imo.

Yes, he has games where he gets hot, but I've never seen enough to think he can sustain it. Hopefully he spends the tournament on a hot streak though!

I said in another thread that I'm not sure I can watch an entire season where Brandon is the #1 option. If Dion does leave, I think it will still be apparent that Brandon is our 3rd best guard next year. A backcourt of MCW and Cooney intrigues me.

For some reason, I'm not giving up hope on him. His rebound of his own shot and put back was a great athletic play. And the put back last night showed another glimpse of what he can do.

I got hooked on this idea back in his FR season when he he rose up and went to the rack in some early season game. Agreed that it/he is frustrating, but man if he puts it together, he could be awesome.

triche gets the occasional board and put back because he misses so many shots so badly , he knows they are off. i think he is what he is...not a guy that should be a focal point of the offense. if he is...we are in big trouble.

Brandon has a glaring mechanical issue where he takes away his guiding hand too early on his release, and half of the time he doesn't get squared up and leans forward or to the left or right. It's gotten to the point where it's an anomaly that he squares up and shoots with good form. This is good in the sense that it is correctable but not very likely at this stage of his career. I wonder how much of this is in his head, but in the end what you see is what you get.

He will never be anything but average when it comes to creating for teammates but if he could at least become a more consistent shooter that will be critical for next year's backcourt. With Triche and Cooney, I'm more concerned that we'll be relying on MCW to provide all of the dribble drive.

With certain facets of the game (rebounding, shooting, defending) you want multiple guys who can do the same thing well. The dribble drive is one key thing I think you can get away with putting most of the burden on one guy. So if that's one of the problems with next year's team I suspect we'll be in good shape.

I thought you never posted about this stuff? ;)

Dribble penetration isn't MCW's strong suit yet, and if he's their only option -- it's a lot easier for a defense to key in on that.
