No one has been perfect in the zone this season. There are times when 4 guys close on the FT line pass leaving 2 wings and a corner open. Why? I've so seen Buddy collapse from the 2 spot all the way down to the opposite low block only to see the ball rotated back out to his wing spot for a 3 as open as pregame warmups. It looked like we were in a 0-5 zone. Again, why?Buddy is slow footed but he’s much better in the rotations than Jimmy, even along the back line. Jimmy and Joe are frequently out of position and often get sucked into the lane when the ball goes to the middle instead of flaring out to shooters.
I think Jimmy knows where he is supposed to be, he just can't cover everywhere he needs to be.
When the zone is at it's best (see 2013 ncaat) the guards and forwards are covering the entire court.
I was sitting courtside for the Elite 8 game and was in awe during the 2nd half watching Triche and MCW blanketing the entire half court. It was insane how active and long they were.
