I hope one of the lessons for the staff today

Is that a one score lead is not enough late to be content to have your defense manage. We've seen how this plays out. Weird things can and will happen. Results are just too volatile to expect a defense to be able to hold on any one drive against a desperate offense. You have to either push that lead to two scores or keep the ball.

When UVA scored to make it 24-21, with 8 minutes left, and our next two plays were runs to McFarlane (who I forgot was on the team), you knew that stall ball was on. Got a great 3rd down play to Ish, but it's not sustainable.

It's the play to win vs play not to lose strategy. I'm not convinced Shafer will ever be anything more than a play not to lose type, but certainly not with the youth on this offense. So everyone buckle in. Or don't. Because you won't really need the seatbelt.

Agreed, Fredericks wasn't doing much to me, the other two ran tougher today.. None were great

Erv I think was back there for a couple late. We just didn't run the ball much. Morris only got 2 carries. McFarland had 5 but did as well as Fredericks. The 3 of them only ran 16 times.
