I hope one of the lessons for the staff today

The running game, and offensive line play, have been bad since Jerome Smith left, he made the line seem better then thy were. Fredericks needs to be the guy, only bring the others in if he needs a rest.

He ran 9 of the 16 runs. You think if he ran those other 7 it would have been different?

Not playing the winning horses. Lester is playing the psycholigical molester. Open it up!

Why have we stopped throwing the ball down the field?

Given the crap pass pro today, we'd never know how often we were running a deep pattern. Dungey was running for his life today and turned a lot of those into huge plays. With a less athletic guy, we might have given up 7-8 sacks more than we took today.

Gotta ease in Dungey, man.

It had nothing to do with easing in Dungey. The OL didn't give him any time. UVA blitzed two LBs up the middle just about every time he dropped back. A few quick slants or passes to a TE would've taken care of that, but we didn't do that.

Yeah, I don't understand our offense. I'm not ranting and raving, I sincerely don't understand it. We seemingly don't run several basic plays. How could we not run a screen or a slant to take advantage of UVA's blitzes? We run a ton of misdirection behind the LOS, but it doesn't seem to open anything up most of the time.

Our O seems to be to let Dungey run and hope for the best.

Wouldn't it be nice to just run an offense that good teams run? Why is it so hard? Why are we dusting off elmworst mid 2000s nonsense.

Our qb is good. We have talent. Put them out wide and throw it to them like everyone else

I watch a lot of football and some of the paths our backs take just to get handoffs are like nothing I've ever seen.

Also, lester had the team playing in a 10 yd box. We need to get away from that. Im not saying chuck it deep but what about intermediate routes?

That made me chuckle. Funny and true

Lester lost me today. We had a full compliment of players available against a mediocre defense. Weather was good. Crowd wasn't a factor. Yet I honestly have no clue what we're trying to do on O. Some of these misdirection plays take forever to develop. We're running short-side option like it was 1992. On normal runs our backs are consistently 5+ yards behind the LOS when they get the ball.

I have no idea what we're trying to do half the time, other than get Dungey in space and hope it all works out.

he also knows that 75% of Derrick Coleman is better than 100% of Derek Brower.

Lol. I asked him that question and that was his reply. But he said 80% of Derrick Coleman.

Well, it was a joke.

If this season plays out like a lot of people fear it will now 4-8 or worse we will get to see what Coyle has up his sleeve because Shafer will not survive.

Don't think so. If we get to 4-5 wins and the offense looks competent (it has) and we know what we have coaching our D (this year is largely an anomaly due to youth) - I'd bet he gets a small extension.

Unless you get a tiny buyout (like that rumored for HCRE) it would be insane to give an extension for anything less than 6 Ws.

Is the standard now just to look competent on O? Personally I think Lester (this year) has done a much better job than McDonald. However last year under McDonald we averaged 214.6 passing and 194.8 rushing per game against a harder schedule. This year we are averaging 172.0 passing and 168.3 rushing. I think we have looked better but we are gaining 69 yards per game less.
