If you don't invest in your coaches and facilities you will forever be stuck in a lose-lose situation.
Head Coach does bad - You are stuck rebuilding for at least 4 years.
Head Coach does good - Someone will lure him away with more money and better facilities.
At least Marrone has the decency to leave for the NFL. Next time we might not be so lucky. Next time you could lose your coach to a "lateral" move. It's not going to look good when a team like Minnesota steals your 8-5 coach.
You think Marrone was thrilled with bringing in a class full of JUCO's and a few underrated HS Seniors? If he can't sell this program to recruits, who can?
