I got to watch the replay and we controlled that game very well. We missed way too many FT's, open jumpers and bunnies around the rim or everyone would be singing a different tune. Colgate shot close to 40% from three and that was really all they could do. We shot 38% from the field, 29% from 3 and 43% from the FT line. (16 misses) Our shooting was mostly us shooting poorly rather than anything that Colgate did directly.

This team has all the pieces but really only Baye is coming back to the same role. CJ is doing well but he is in a new role as the lead man and struggling with turn overs as well as when to be aggressive and when to let things happen. Everyone else is trying to step into a bigger role or new to the rotation. We've seen good and bad from almost everyone. We may not roll out to an undefeated record going into the Duke game (like I thought we might) although we still could. Its going to be ugly at times until roles are defined, rotations solidified and players become accustom to them.

The good news is that the perimeter defense against driving is getting a little bit better each game. Everyone that will be in the rotation (excluding Baye) has shown that they can score the ball. Cooney was money when it was really needed against Cornell. CJ is scoring a lot. MikeG is looking very solid. The list goes on and on.

The main thing is don't fret about a game we won by almost 20 and were in control the whole way when we missed 16 FT's , most of our good open looks from deep and about 8 gimmies at the rim. If it happens 2-3 games in a row with the shooting then start to worry.

I'm afraid we might end up being a below average outside shooting team that doesn't ever develop a decent inside game. That along with the fact that last year's team, although shooting was a problem, seemed to play much better D on the perimeter. Put those two possibilities together and its got me concerned.

Not saying it's going to happen, but so far I'm not super encouraged.

Agree, awfull shooting day but there were positives

We probably practiced defense hard for 2 days, not uncommon of cuse teams to lack offense and defense in different games throughout the season due to practice and short term memory, its called working on your weaknesses. The two games before it we lacked defense and we head for Maui now. Its a no brainer we would be working hard on the defense before going there.

We shot 36 and 29 from outside, 42 from the line, Thets compare that to the two games before it.
We shot 44.5 from the field just under 70 from the line against fordham, and 53 percent 50 from three, and 66 from the line against cornell(although grant and dajuan weren't at the line that day). And Colgates defense was not better then cornell or fordhams imo.

52, rebounds, 26 offensive for us, 21 turnovers for colgate,

If we didn't have the worst shooting day of the year we probably have another dozen points.

We have Grant and ennis in double digit scoring in two straight games,(Grant would be 3 if he didn't sit). And Cooney in double digits 2 out of 3 with one of them hitting only one outside shot.
Kinda what we expected although some had dajuan in the discussion for being in the top 4.

This team lacks assists we won't see them from fair and grant or probably coleman, Another reason imo Rak and kieta could use a few more touches. I still am not sold on Gbinije driving but it worked last game so why not give it some run.

This team got, fordam, colgate and cornell all into foul trouble.

I am concerned about Grants ft shooting and midrange J because we are looking to it this year. I am confident in our outside shooting and inside scoring. Stats really don't tell the story on those. We will settle down and shoot the ball from outside better only a matter of time.

No doubt there should be concerns but this was one game where everyone other than CJ shot the ball verypoorly which is an unlikely occurrence. I am with you on the inside game though. There is no reason not to give Rok and DC2 plenty of touches around the basket. And if you are CJ, Jerami or TylerR take it to the rim instead of settling for deep 2pt jumpers.

Ahhh, Jordoo, thanks for helping us keep perspective, which could completely change after the game tomorrow!

Ennis hit 4 threes. If he can consistently do that it will help Cooney and CJ. The team has work to do but that's why JB schedules the bunnies in November. This team has a lot of potential.

Agreed on all points. Ennis does not need to be deadly but he needs to hit enough to be guarded out there and he needs to want to shot them when he is wide open like last night,

Ennis can score if the need is there. Check out what he did for the Canadian U19 team when they needed points. He is the ideal PG because he is capable of doing whatever is needed.
I think we are all pleased with what he has done so far. Just imagine what he will look like in March. Sometimes it's easy to forget that he is a Freshman.

I have very very high expectations for Ennis so I definitely notice he is a freshman. He's a way above average freshman especially at the PG spot but for him he is playing like a freshman IMO. When he puts it together he is going to be not just super steady, he will be a technician running the show for us.
