I love late season OOC games

I used to really look forward to those premiere out of conference matchups in January. What a great scheduling approach.

I think that went by the wayside when conference was got larger and there became more conference games that needed to be accounted for.

Today is SEC-Big 12 Challenge Day

After I saw more of the schedule I realized that's what it was. I like the timing of it. I'd like for the ACC/B1G challenge to be around this time.

I agree, those OCC games are fun especially against good teams. I remember that Kentucky game, ugh. I was 22 years old and watched the game from my parent's basement. It was the first time that I had ever turned a Cuse game off before it concluded. Now, I do it regularly.

The Arizona game was much more fun, because the outcome was great. So many games over the years but I remember both to this day, which speaks to your point.
I'm remembering a different Kentucky game from 1994. I remember a big put back dunk from Hill that changed the momentum of the game and we won. Even the 1995 game was close. Are you thinking of the one at the beginning of '96-'97, maybe the great alaska shootout, where we got blown out?

For a number of years (although not this season), Duke would schedule a OOC game against a quality opponent (often St. John's) around this time. Coach K felt it prepared his team for a differnt style of play, officiating, etc. they would encounter in the NCAA Tournament. The officiating part probably referred to non-ACC refs not allowing Duke players to get away with flops.

The P5 + Big East extended schedules just make it very difficult these days. Schedules made to fit in 2 conference games a week for pretty much every team.

Unless a league co-ordinates with other leagues to leave open spots (like the Big 12 - SEC this weekend) its just very difficult to achieve.
That would seem to be right in The Alliance's wheelhouse.

Can’t think of a single thing joining the ACC has done to positively effect the Cuse fan bball experience

The dome renovations? I’m not sure how that was funded exactly but it seems like additional ACC revenue must have played a part.

There a couple today with Kansas vs Kentucky and Auburn vs Oklahoma.

When was the last we one? I remember some in the '90's against Arizona and Kentucky.

At Michigan State in 2003. Thats when I started to get that special feeling about what could be (even though MSU was unranked at the time).

Wow, February 23rd! That was late in the year.

I think Moten hit a 3 at the buzzer in '95 that made it closer than it was. Might have set a school record for turnovers that day, 30+. Couldn't get into any kind of flow, so down the stretch it never felt like we were in it.

In Alaska, that was a whole other level though.
