When you have a coach who can recruit and knows how to use NIL, and the portal you win.Just wanted to make this thread awhile back to even out the "NIL IS RUINING COLLEGE SPORTS" posts that frequent the bball board these days or we saw a ton when we lost Duce a couple years back
When we're bad, NIL = bad...so if we're good, must mean it's good?
Put to play with the big boys we need $20m. That isn't going to happen.Thank god for NIL and the portal
We wouldn’t have got a season with Kyle McCord and Jackson Meeks without it
We beat Miami. We played with the big boys. We get a couple breaks this year and we are in the playoff. Stop being negative.Put to play with the big boys we need $20m. That isn't going to happen.
Agree that all things considered it definitely did. Only sad part about it is 4 year guys that you used to get to watch develop from under the radar recruits into leaders and stars are becoming more of a rarity. Once they develop into stardom a good amount will be plucked away by “bigger programs”. The amount of Marlowe Waxs and Oronde Gadsdens will become less and less they already have. Luckily we have Fran at the helm who can navigate this better than most.NIL and Portal evened the playing field a bit. I am all for it.

Agreed, unless these basketball players taking money to sit the bench at SEC schools realize it's doesn't help them get better, It's definitely going to skew toward those schools (not that a school with mid range NIL money like Syracuse can't be making the tourney once in awhile)net positive for college football, terrible for college basketball.
SU isn’t in the SEC or Big 10. They don’t need 20MPut to play with the big boys we need $20m. That isn't going to happen.

Then we're not playing with the big boys. Our ceiling is limited toSU isn’t in the SEC or Big 10. They don’t need 20M
No you don't.Put to play with the big boys we need $20m. That isn't going to happen.
You aren’t playing 12 of them a season. You can build a roster that has enough talent to beat anyone in a one or two game scenario without that much, it’s the depth you need to get through those conferences that’s the issue and the expense.Coach Fran’s goal is to win a Natty, not just the ACC.
Who do you think you’re going to need to beat to win a Natty? Right, teams from the SEC and Big 10 (Big 12 too) so we need a roster that can compete with the best teams in the country not just the ACC.
The top programs in the country have approximately $15-$20 mil in NIL. The top players will follow the money regardless of which conferences have the teams with the money.
If you just want to be a good ACC team can win 10 games every few years, then you’re right, we don’t need that much NIL $$$.
It giveth & taketh.Thank god for NIL and the portal
