I see that the new S&C staff ordered new Rogue equipment

Long read but a good one. It very much underlines what has been posted here by others, gotta start small with technique, work your way from there.

You lose technique when you go fast or get tired. We had a debate here earlier in the year. Personally, I think for strength training it is better to use low reps where you can concentrate on technique. If one wants to be fit then use body weight exercises.

No one would train athletes for football with Crossfit. Watch the S&C vids from Bowling Green. There's no Crossfit at all.

Agreed. I wasn't thinking they would. my posts were meant for crossfit in general. Like I said, I think it's fine of the trainers know what they are doing but that is where the disconnect seems to be

Doing olympic lifts with your heart rate around 165 is a recipe for disaster with regards to the average person. Take a guy who spends most of his day in the office and probably has mobility issues, have him sprint 200M, do 25 box jumps, then throw him on a platform to do some cleans -- it's not going to work out well in the long run.

Can someone briefly explain to me how you get injured and what the injuries are?

The how is simple- take the most complex movements that exist in the weight lifting world and try to a) lift as quickly as possible or b) as many reps as possible.

Exactly my point. Best thing for office guy is some cardio and then some weight lifting/ functional training. This shite is just asking for it

And also let's be real- some people are simply more injury prone than others. Some can get away (although how long might be up for debate..) with poor form for a period of time.

The reality is every body is different and the biomechanics of each person's body (limbs, etc) affects how well they might be able to do certain functional and complex movements.

I'm not sure anyone said they were going to do crossfit. I stated that Rogue is the premier supplier of crossfit equipment. I'm sure they are doing exercises that are also done in cross fit...the video showed box jumps. However, I'm also sure they are tailored for FB.

Cross fit has lots of exercises that would (do) work for FB. The cross fit vids include basic weightlifting -- dead lifts and clean and jerk. I mean .. they have NFL players doing yoga, so not sure what everyone's excited about here.

I don't care if they wear tutus .. as long as they can start competing for wins in conference.
