Dallas would great destination city. There are a tremendous amount of talented kids within an easy drive to the Cotton Bowl, only will help push the SU Brand forward. I like the later date as well. We can throw a great tailgate down here.

Does Chris Carlson know that BC is in the ACC? He keeps saying that SU and Pitt were only other viable candidates for the Pinstripe?

The "New Years Day Bowl" designation doesn't mean what it used to, so that's not a factor for me. Selfishly, I want a bowl that's played when I can watch it, so new year's day works well for me, but, ultimately, I hope they go where the players would like to go.

Thats not entirely true. While a lot of the BCS games not being played on NYD any more has changed it a bit, you can not argue that playing a game on Jan 1st, when everything is closed, and everyone is home recovering from hangovers on couch watching football, is a better game than the Beef Bowl on Dec 20th at 2pm.

Hopefully it happens. At least we are getting our annual ice storm out of the way early this year. It's 19 degrees in Plano, TX this morning.

33 here in Houston this morning. Hoping it warms up to more seasonable temps if we get a Dallas bowl game.

Does anyone know where the players would like to go? Did the Post-Standard bother to ask?

That would be a foolish question for the players to answer to the media. If they don't go to the one they say they want, they look ungrateful. If SU has any say in where they go, I would hope TGD has asked for player input.

It's true that there is a greater opportunity for exposure on new years day, but that doesn't change what I said. The designation "New Year's Day Bowl" doesn't mean as much as it used to. Proof of that is the mere fact that a 6-6 team will likely play in one.

It doesn't mean what it once was...but it still matters some!!
I'm not denying that there are some benefits, see my post above. Like I said in my first post, I can watch if we're in Dallas and probably can't in the Beef bowl. However, if the players prefer Florida to Texas, I hope that's where they go.

It's about 20 here, about an hour north of Dallas. Then again, it was 70 on Tuesday so who the hell knows what it'll be like on January 1.

Who cares what the players want?! Seriously its about what is better long-term for the "program" overall. Playing on New Years day is better for this football program going forward!

Who cares what the players want? Really? A bowl game should be a reward for the players when a NC isn't a possibility. They're the ones putting in the work and getting bumped, bruised, and injured. If you don't care at all what the players want, you're not a fan.

Going to one lower tier bowl versus another will not make much of a difference in the future of the program. Getting to a bowl, any bowl, two years in a row has already had more of an impact than which lower level bowl it is. It's not like we're talking Beef -vs- Orange.

the chain seven eleven originated in dallas, plus the final four there in april at jerry's world
