Miami needs an at large bid now. With the way things are going a three loss SEC team like Bama or South Carolina or Ole Miss could sneak in (unfair as that may be) over a 10-2 Miami that didn't make the conference championship, especially if Clemson wins and they have to give an at-large bid to SMU. And if Clemson loses, they're technically a three loss team too. IMHO it just went from "maybe we can squeak three in" to "maybe we can squeak two in."

And the payout really is $4M. More for advancing.

  • For the 2024-25 academic year:
    1. Each conference will receive $300,000 for each of its schools when the school’s football team meets the NCAA’s APR for participation in a postseason football game. Each independent institution will also receive $300,000 when its football team meets that standard.
    2. A conference will receive $4 million for each team that makes the College Football Playoff (12 schools) and each team that advances to the Playoff Quarterfinals (eight schools).
    3. A conference will receive $6 million for each team that advances to a Playoff Semifinal (four schools) and each team that advances to the national championship game (two schools).
    4. Each conference whose team participates in the College Football Playoff will receive $3 million to cover expenses for each round.

Anyway, I can't say I mind. I have *never* felt like we were welcome in the ACC, and there's precisely zero point zero reasons to put the needs of a conference with an uncertain future above our own. Just kind of fascinating how big and political this all is.

Just have your crooked refs kick in some of the loot they've made over the years making calls against us. They were trying again yesterday.

Freckum.

They've probably cost us that much over the years with crap scheduling and costing us games that sent us to lower bowls.

This.

While we have been a far cry from the Syracuse they thought they were getting when we joined the league, it's always felt like a transactional arrangement in this conference. Belonging was never part of the deal and it's clear we don't belong.

Hope the whole thing implodes.
