I agree with you but I get the sense that the staff still thinks he's the better overall player.

i agree 100%. There was an explicit promise for him to start all year and the team can't reneg (for whatever reason). It's so glaring that Allen shouldn't be starting and is so inferior to Hunt. It's illogical unless there is other factors involved.

I don't believe that's accurate at all.

Watching how coaching staff and players related to TH on sidelines when D was on field versus their interaction with Allen, this "I believe in Both" is more cordial BS than real. I think TH has the job to lose now and that he has two add. years to grow would make it reasonable to give him more margin of error than Allen. We will see.

Starting Allen would be a kick in the groin to Hunt, and after his performance Saturday, would leave him wondering "What do I have to do to earn a starting job?"
I don't believe the staff was foolish enough to promise a starting job to Allen - it's not like he came in here with glowing credentials (like Russell Wilson, who was 1st team All-ACC before transferring to Wisconsin). There was a reason that Allen didn't start at Oklahoma.
I agree with Imperial that sometimes players perform differently when the bright lights go on.

He may simply be what I call a batting practice hitter. Looks fantastic in the cage but once he's out there facing real pitching he's quite average or worse.

I don't know if he was promised this or that and I understand the excitement for Hunt but my point is that making a thread to mock the kid isn't the thing that I agree with. It's a free internet (well except for the pay side) and anyone and everyone has their opinion and I respect that. I'm just hoping posters don't start making threads to punk on the kid, that's all.

I agree. He is Orange after all and should be treated fairly. Certainly HCSS is handling this very well. He who shall not be named was very good about that as well. Made for boring press conferences but if it was your kid that is what you have a right to expect.
