This isn't me looking past michigan. and i'm assuming WSU loses.

It's just that if we win, we'll only have Sunday to talk about the national championship game. I suppose we'd have monday, but i'll be spending the entire day on the toilet trembling

Ware avg 16 min, 7 pts, 2 rebounds against SU this year. Goes without saying that I am so sorry for him. but i'm curious what the effect will be. i don't know how you beat the press other than rolling the dice on long passes and attacking the basket. gotta pray for foul trouble.

i haven't watched as much michigan as i would've liked.

I want to think that 'Ville/Cuse would be called tight - with that amount of eyeballs and that big of a game. But, there is a Pitino love-fest out there and his players (like VCU) are allowed to get away with more, consistently than non-press teams. It will come down to MCW and Triche playing at a higher level than the last 2 games vs them.

And for what it's worth - I think we roll Michigan.

The Ware injury hurts them quite a bit if they have to play us since it will keep Siva on the floor.

im scared of mcgary. i think hes type of guy who could give us fits. but then again, gardner plays somewhat similarly and although he gave us problems saturday, we still won. what gives me confidence is boeheims record v john beilin.

You have to take Boeheim over Beilein with a week to prepare.

In the last UL game, the BET final, SU destroyed UL in the first half by picking on Siva and Smith, posting their midget bodies up repeatedly, much as was done with the smurf IU guards.

To address this, Ware played a ton in the second half. He was big enough and strong enough to stem the tide and stop a lot of the damage the SU guards did getting to the hole.

If UL if fortunate enough to get to the championship game against Syracuse, Ware's loss will be felt most on the defensive side of the ball.

I agree cat.

If nothing else, it's 5 less fouls they have and SHOULD have to play a bit more reserved as a result.

I would love another shot at them but I'm not looking past UM in the least and LVille better not be looking past

Oh, I think it will be felt on offense too. The length at the top of our zone freaks Siva out, and takes away all of his strengths. Siva played sparingly in the second half in favor of Ware at the Dome, too - Pitino doesn't trust him against us.

I don't think he brings much attacking our zone but he has been a little more effective than Siva when UL executes its half court offense against the 2-3. But it was his defense that was a difference maker in MSG.

Not so much that I think Ware puts things on the table as much as I think Siva's just that bad against the zone. Losing a reasonable option that keeps Siva on the bench should worry them.

I actually think where Ware's loss hurts the most is in the Ville's press. Yes they were really good against Duke but Ware's size at the Guard spot really helped against us when they press. Hancock and Blackshear aren't as quick or as disruptive as the trio of Siva/Smith/Ware in the press. Ware also has hit some big 3's against us this year too using his height to get his shot off.

I'd be interested to see what Ware's numbers were in the two wins compared to the loss to us. Seemed he was key with some 3's in both wins IMO. He's good in the press and gets Siva on the bench when Siva goes into the twilight zone against us. I hate that if we play them for the NC and we win part of the reason may be because of that gruesome injury. Its part of sports I know but I'd be routing for Lville if we weren't around because of it.
