Gets a 1 seed over UVa. I get it they won the head to head match up but more importantly UVa won the ACC over duk. 18 games are more important than 1. If duk is a 1 seed, they will be the only one this year that did not win their conference reg season title, conf tourney title , or both. I am kind of sick of exceptions being made for duk, but thats just me. To me the 1 seeds are uk, uva, villanova and ariz or wisc (depending how their tourney games play out).

UVA won the acc without him in the lineup for a good part of the season. I am pretty sure duk beat uva without anderson, and now hes back. So are you saying uva lost yesterday because Anderson was not effective? What was duks excuse for losing?
The head to head thing doesnt wash w me. Based on that logic ND should get a 1 or 2 ahead of Duke because ND beat duk 2-1 this season and just like uva and duk have similar records, so do nd and duk. Why do we have all these conferences if their titles dont mean anything?
he only missed a month of games ,not sure if he played vs duke but I think he did. Yes Justin Anderson is the reason Virginia lost yesterday. Despite us beating ND I think they are a better team than unc. Dukes non conference is much better than Virginia's too
Then why didnt duke beat out uva for acc? The answer, they werent quite good enough, and they werent quite good enough to win acc tourney. But you reward them w one seed? Ok makes sense to me, they are Duke after all
If you look at ALL rpi and bpi rating systems, you can not clearly say that. Thats why conference titles should mean something. You actually had to get it done as opposed to simply placing your own judgement on something

Duke beat UVA in Charlottesville handily. They beat Wisconsin in Madison handily. Duke is getting and has earned a #1 seed.

It was not handily, duk was down by 9 w 5 to go. And yes Anderson did play. But thats fine you are putting your faith in one or two games as opposed to who came out w the title in an 18 game season. Thats why the ncaa tourney is so great, hopefully it will become clear who the best team is

I think Wisconsin could squeak by UVA. UVA has a better resume but the committee may move Wisconsin up to allow them to avoid Kentucky in Cleveland. Historically, the committee has taken injury into account and Justin Anderson's medical problems could be used to justify moving Wisconsin up to a 1 seed.
Note: Personally, I could not respect Mr. Anderson more. His comeback from appendicitis after the broken finger absolutely amazes me.

I get your point but I think unless you play a true robin conference title are contingent on whom you play and where you play them.
UVA played Louisville, Virginia Tech, NC State, and Wake Forest two times and played @UNC, @SU, @Miami, @ND, Duke at home.
Duke played North Carolina, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Notre Dame two times and played @Louisville, @NC State, @UVA, Miami at home.
UVA finished 16-2 and Duke finished 15-3. I think Duke played the harder schedule than UVA did. Wake cancels out but UNC, Syracuse, Notre Dame is tougher than Virginia Tech, Louisville, and NC State.
UVA played Duke at home and Duke won a nail-biter in JPJ arena. I think Duke's non-conference wins are better than a difference of 1 game in the ACC standings.
Your first paragraph strikes me as the type of conversation the ncaa was having when they were discussing the outcomes of SU s penalties

The committee has shown no propensity to incorporate the ESPN BPI nor conference titles into their seeding decisions. Duke's 3 road wins against 3 top 11 RPI teams, which includes a win at UVA, trump UVA's impressive results.
Cant argue w that, its convoluted but it does make sense. Fine, toss out both duk and uva and put in ariz and wisc...but wait a sec...duk beat wisc head to head...screw it as much as i dont agree, give Duk the one seed!
And clearly the best 4 teams based on what you say (ie focusing on SOS) are UK, UVa, Duke and Wisc. But that wont stop the committee from making Villanova a 1 seed

I agree with your conclusion. I may be splitting hairs but when the RPI is close, the committee has tended to focus on quality of wins. SOS is part of the RPI formula and can be "gamed" rather easily.
I also think Kansas has a good case for a 1 seed. I am not sure why they are not even in the conversation.
If they win today they should be imo
Edit, most especially when you consider what they lost w Alexander suspension and losing Ellis for a few games
Wisconsin is not above either Duke or UVA until they win today. They have advanced no further in their tournament yet than Duke or UVA did. Also, Duke and UVA played top 20 teams Wisconsin plays an unranked bubble team Purdue and lost their only game agains the only other top 15 team in conference. Wisconsin lost at Rutgers and their best nonconference wins are @Cal, Oklahoma. Wisconsin passes the eye test, but their resume is very thin.
Wisconsin lost at HOME to Duke and UVA beat UMD in College Park while Wisconsin lost in College Park. Wisconsin's resume is not better than Duke's.

It's possible that neither gets a 1 seed. Kentucky, Wisconsin (if they win the B1G), Arizona (if they win the Pac), and Nova (if they win the BE) all have legit claims to the 1 seed. And you know who gets the East in this scenario. couchburn
Its all too complicated, forget SOS or resume, the more i watch Ariz or Villanova lately, they look really good to me. I tend to discount Vill due to their SOS but Calhoun just the other day said Villanova is legit. As much as i dislike him, his opinion matters more than mine or just about anyone on that committee
