He might be the next big surprise at that position but not a "legend". I saw an element of power and quickness through the LOS. I saw nothing in the way of changing directions and cutting ability which I have to think is a prime requirement for legendary status. I think the biggest ? for next season is what will AAM bring to the field? We will have Mcfarlane and Morris playing to get in there along with our Prince of Gulley.couchburn

I don't like Gulley or Smith.

Moore does, what Smith does, much better. He just needs to lose a few pounds.

Morris and McFarlane need some playing time next year. One or both will probably be redshirted, though... Oh Lord

I have no problem with Gulley except his health issues that he seems to attract. Otherwise he has a good deal of talent IMO

I don't think Gulley's fast enough, for the type of player he is. He just doesn't seem that fast to me.

Does anyone know what his 40 time is?

He looked fast on the field which is what matters.

He had some really nice runs vs Toledo and then he was done for the year.

I don't think anyone sees Jerome Smith as the next big RB for Syracuse.

What are you basing that on? The fact Jerome was a far better player than Moore this year? The fact Moore couldn't get PT because he was too fat? Or the fact Jerome had a great game and a TD against Pitt?

Oh wait, we're judging off a senior year youtube video. I like AAM, but Smith proved he can play at this level. Gulley also has proven he can be a playmaker when healthy. AAM has proved he can run for 5 yards straight up the middle. But yeah, Moore definitely runs between the tackles better than Smith... Oh Lord

It looks like Shamarko and PTG were 1 and 2 in that video. A lot of people say Shamarko runs a high 4.2/low 4.3.

I would put PTG in the 4.4 range...that would be my guess
That is much faster than Bailey or even Carter If Shamarko runs that fast I might have put him in at TB. When you start recording numbers in the 4.2 area you have crossed into elite country. That is incredible speed 4.4s for the Prince is very good as well.

40 times matter little if you can't avoid tackles (see: Jeremiah Kobena)

True that. Let's hope Moore can help Kobena and we'll see him make the strides that DG made this year. Would love a burner to help open up our middle and underneath routes.

I'm not sure we have "the next great back" on the roster. If I had to go with someone, it would be Morris, who I really like. I actually like them all, just a case of a whole bunch of guys being tightly packed in regards to experience and age. I think for the next five years we could go through one of those stretches where we have a different guy lead the team in yards each year. This of course depends on your criteria for what the next great back should look like, also.

Smith or Moore and Gulley in the same backfield. Please. We can then use the stengths of both of them and not be stuck with the weaknesses.

ONKRs Kobena has a long way to in avoiding tackles. He has great speed but only fair vision in spotting seams in the coverage Even the least athletic slowest guy on the field can bring down Kobena if he decides trying to run near me is a good idea Dorian has the same problem except once in his career. "Make my day and run into me"

Very true.

Also, with potentially more RB's than carries to go around next year I would love to see PTG deep returning kickoffs next year w/ Kobena as the up man.

Don't forget George Morris. This kid will play unless an injury gets him I there is a red-shirt in there it won't be George.;)

Don't forget about McFarlane. Ideally both he and Morris would be able to redshirt if PTG, Smith, and AMM show up ready to play.

Regardless, it's nice to have guys like DMc, and Morris that will push them from day 1.

~ oh and by the way, welcome back Cali. The board just didn't seem the same without you.
