is tight moving into the 4th quarter it's going to start feeling a little like March Madness. I felt that a bit last week before Alabama pulled away from Auburn. I think Alabama is the best team in the country, but they aren't dominant this year the way they have been in recent years under Nick Saban.

I think TCU is a better team right now than Baylor. Baylor can change that with a strong win over K State. I'm surprised that TCU jumped over FSU. If FSU plays really well against Georgia Tech I would expect FSU to jump back ahead of TCU. I also think FSU could lose to Georgia Tech, but right now FSU is undefeated and I think FSU's schedule is more challenging than TCU's. TCU won impressively over Texas, but the Texas defense seemed to me to control the line of scrimmage. Credit TCU for turning over Texas 6 times and capitalizing on those turnovers, but the Texas QB really struggled in that game. He made some plays, but he had several costly breakdowns. Reminded me in some ways of the SU team this season- good defense and way too many breakdowns on offense.

Ohio State needs to play better on defense in order to beat Wisconsin, and they probably need to show that they can get off the field more consistently against a good offense. If they beat Wisconsin with really good defense then they will put pressure on the committee.

Arizon v. Oregon I have no strong feelings either way. I think Oregon is likely to win, but I've seen that movie before. I do think the Pac12 looks like the best conference this season. Last season I thought the Pac12 was close.

Does anyone think Alabama, Oregon, and FSU lose, or 2 out of the 3 lose? That would be madness!

im expecting ohio state to lose with 3rd string qb playing

None of these teams are as dominant as some teams in the past. They are all beatable. FSU is more likley to lose than the other two, but I wouldn't be shocked at 2 out of 3 or or that matter, 3 of 3. Certainly not likely, but anything is possible- all it akes is a key injury or two and everything changes.

Each top team could lose this weekend. What annoys the hell out of me is that FSU has to have 0 losses to be in the final four while no one else has to do that.
Yeah, what's up with that?

Yeah, what's up with that?
Because the committee like everyone else in sports are overreactionary and since FSU didn't lose early, they cannot lose. I can't believe noone gives them credit for winning (albeit ugly) when they have the defending National Champs bullseye on their back. They haven't lost in 2 years!

Also, if you take a minute to actually dig into their schedule, FSU has played half of their opponents coming off of byes or glorified scrimmages thus giving them 2 weeks to prepare for FSU.

FSU opponent/ opponents week prior

Florida / Eastern Kentucky
BC / Bye week
Miami / Bye week
Louisville / Bye Week
NC State / Presbyterian
Clemson / Bye week, South Carolina State 2 weeks prior

So they have been getting everyone's best shot, 50% with 2 weeks or more to prepare for them. Why is this never discussed when their first half struggles are talked about ad nauseam?

Yeah, I think if FSU beats Georgia Tech, big if, they move ahead of TCU. Undefeated is undefeated, and while some people can make a decent case that FSU's schedule soft, that doesn't apply to TCU or Baylor.

It could be argued that Oregon, TCU, and Baylor (in that order) have had tougher schedules than Alabama. Not sure why Bama are #1 much less cemented into the #1 spot. BEVO has 3 top 10 teams, Pac12 2, SEC only has 2 because people are smoking something and have Mississippi State ahead of Georgia Tech and Wisconsin at 10.

Big 12 having this great rep is a load of crap too. Their number 9 powerhouse KSU team lost to the #6 SEC team at home.

Comparing FSU and either TCU or Baylor, I think the conference schedules are similar in strength. This season the Big12 is a little heavy at the top. But OOC the Seminoles played against 3 schools in P5 conferences- Florida, Oklahoma State, and Notre Dame.

The # 3 BEVO team gave away a game to Auburn who was leading Alabama by 2 scores in the second half. That one is pretty easy to flip. The # 6 BEVO team was in a one score game with the # 1 SEC team in the 4th quarter as well.

I don't even compare FSU with the 1 losses. Defending national champ, only undefeated should be #1 with Oregon, Bama, TCU, and Baylor vying for #2-4. You'd have to have Oregon ahead of Bama to even have Ohio State in the conversation.

Roll Tide baby. Lol at already complaining about the officiating days before the game.

A lot of people see it the way you do, and I can understand that pov. For me, each week when I look at the teams within the top 4 (the current best 4 teams, per committee), then I give the committee flexibility to move those teams around just like I give the basketball selection committee flexibility with the brackets. I often disagree with the basketball selections in terms of seeding and which region teams are assigned, but I want the committee to have that flexibility. I feel the same way with the top 4 selections in football. That's why I think if FSU beats Georgia Tech the committee will move FSU back up ahead of TCU. But this week based on the games played the committee sees TCU as a stronger #3 than FSU.

Obviously, you've never watched an SEC game.

Fair enough but I still don't think FSU should be in a position to be jumped. IF they end up a 3 seed or a 2 seed they end up playing Oregon in California. If they stay 4th they play Bama in the Sugar Bowl. If they were 1st they still play in the Sugar Bowl vs TBD. Essentially the polls are currently setting up to gaurentee Bama is the protected seed and doesn't have to travel and play in California. That's why Oregon @ 1 or 2 with Bama as their 3 or 4 won't happen.

Fact remains though that Ok St loses to FSU, Texas Tech lost to Arkansas, KSU lost to Auburn, West Virginia lost to Alabama and Texas lost to UCLA and BYU. Baylor and TCU have no marquee OCC victories. I just don't think a conference with that OOC resume deserves to have 2 teams in a 4 team playoff which is a very realistic possibility at this point.
