If Grayson Allen played for us...

Totally. He would be a Bob Sura type. Or an ideal Paul Harris type 2G.

I can think of one McD All American from this years team who didn't get any focus until his senior season...

But he didn't deserve it. He had no fire, no focus, and no motor before this year. Not for more than a couple minute spurts every 8 games or so.

he would declare for the draft tomorrow

Allen reminds me of Devendorf, except without all the baggage. They both are excellent finishers with both hands.

(yes, I may be guilty of the mentally lazy white guy to white guy comparison)

That was my first thought when Allen made the driving layup in the first half. Man, never thought I'd say this (since I prize defense, modesty, and decent off-court behavior) but it made me miss Devendorf. The guy could finish as well as anyone.

As great as Devo was, Allen is a next level athlete. He has to put on some muscle, but the kid will be a huge pain in the a** for the next 3 years.

Probably just the next year. He is as you say an elite athlete and IMO big enough to be a 2G in the association. He will probably average around 17 a game next year.

Allen did not play a whole lot for Duke until Sulamon was booted.

True. Huge logjam there at that position. Surprise he committed there actually. Next man up I suppose. He'll be a pain in the ass next year.

Watching the game last night, I said to the guy next to me "Devo without the tats"

Not only did he commit there but so did Luke Kennard who is a similar type player. I heard one over exuberant local media person say he thought Luke Kennard would lead the ACC in scoring next year. Probably a slight exaggeration but he did avg 38.8 pts/gm this season (and was called unselfish by his coach). Pure shooter.

Actually he would have sat the bench behind Trevor all season, maybe seeing minutes in front of Buss. Next year he'd still be stuck behind Cooney and G who I am told is our best player.

he would have eaten most of Joseph's minutes and been to this squad what Dion Waiters was to the 2012 team

G's versatility is what would have enabled that fictional scenario and in the real world will allow JB to play two non-point guards together for heavy minutes next year. G can handle PG duties on offense and MR & TC can play the top of the zone on defense, putting three respectable shooters on the court at the same time for the first time since that 2012 season

Agreed. Either Joseph really improves or we see a lot of his minutes going to Malachi in the above formation.

Honestly, he reminding me of Wade a little bit.....and no I'm not saying he will be Wade.

Allen will be next hated Duke guard following the tradition of Hurley, Wojo, Reddick, and Paulus
