If Gross Can Get Agreement From a Proven Coach...

Schiano sounds good to me.

What did he do at rutgirls that impressed you?

Dude, enough with the logic and the reality check, the board is on a roll.

You are killing the mojo.

Cowher to 'Cuse is trending...
That would legit be the best thing in the world. Ever.

Seriously? Even the biggest Rutgers fan would admit how putrid they were before he came to town. He brought a laughing stock to almost national prominence. They have fallen off since then, but the effects of his work are still resonating there, as I think their days of being a complete doormat are gone.

Yes seriously. What did he do at rutgirls that impressed you? That one season 8 years ago? I don't care what they were before he got there. He had middling teams that sometimes went to middling bowls. His record OOC was vet inflated by playing the worst OOC schedule almost every year. I guess the last 3 seasons finishing 4th, 8th and 4th impressed? If all we want to do is stay a middling D1 program, then maybe you bring someone in like that. But I'd prefer to become a top 25 team or something close to that.

Holy hell...Schiano, you guys think our qb's are struggling now? I would take Schiano to coach the special teams in a second.

we need a real special teams coach as teams routinely hit big returns on kickoffs while we struggle to get to the 20

No, I've been skeptical of MacDonald from the beginning.
Okay, just to be clear, you are saying that we should fire a coach in his second year that has not had a losing season yet? We would become a bigger joke than we are now. Oh, and those N.D. guys have not been reinstated yet.

Let's not forget that he also did that in a state that top to bottom is far superior in recruiting talent to NY.

they need to hire a young up and coming offensive genius and live with the fact that he'll use SU as a stepping stone.

Mack Brown? Former ACC coach.

Tommy Bowden?

5-1 in bowl games which SU seems to value so much. He was a very good coach there.

they did that with current oc

I'm talking about a guy who's and OC or a HC somewhere else that has a scheme that throws it all over the place. Who besides Shafer claimed McD was a genius?

People sign agreements in principal all the time, especially in hiring situations.
What do you actually think an "agreement in principle is"? A letter if intent? Good luck at enforcing it. The whole idea is a non-starter. First of all, if we fired HCSS now who would want the job. Two years and playing with Marrone's players? After a bowl and good showing in the ACC. This is just silly stuff.

Crap bowls. We're 3-0 in the same garbage. He never won a thing in the BE. He wouldn't get us anymore in the ACC than we are now. A middling .500 team. Not sure why some of you want to settle for mediocrity.

I would not want Greg for those reasons you just named but mediocrity would look good to me about now.

Do you realize what he brought them from?? Jeez...

When looking for a new coach at SU I wouldn't want some SEC/ACC coordinator. When they got here they would bemoan everything that was missing. Schools have had success with lower conference coaches who get to an ACC school and think they are a kid in a candy store. Oh wait that would be - Scott Shafer. Never mind,

It's a thought, but Kiffen got fired for being a lousy football coach. There's got to be somebody out there who is out of a job for some personal peccadillo.

Ok, Sverud is all in on the moral turpitude.

Says that this is the type of forward-looking, out-of-the box thinking that we need.

Insisting on high moral fiber for a leader of impressionable young men is so old-school.

He wants to know if you would only consider real POS with a football background or if you would consider a Dave Bliss or even someone with no sports background like a Madoff, Maduro or a Rafsanjani.

He is ready to torpedo Shafer today but only if you will chair the search committee.

What he brought them from means nothing. It's what they became. Nothing special and a middling program.

I think Schiano did a good job there.

They were a laughingstock and he brought them to respectability.

He brought them to a 4th, 8th and 4th place finish in the BE his last 3 seasons. We were just as good as that with Marrone and Shafer last year. He's not getting us to another plateau. He's never been there.
