this is a BIG moment. this year is shot, wilson is clearly not ready. long is tiny. i assume one of these guys is the future. i don't know a thing about kimble. how do they get through the year without getting these guys killed and without leaving them shellshocked. i worry about a tom savage situation. in retrospect, it's clear he's talented but he wasn't ready and went backwards before recovering.

i wonder if this spot is speeding up the inevitable sh!tcanning of mcf***it. you can't trust a dummy like that with such a fragile situation at QB

i'm sure there will be people who have the same *** it baptism by fire what do we have to lose, but i think kid gloves and baby steps might get us through to next year when hopefully hunt gets wally pipp'd

Well, there could very well be some negative aspects to this development, too. What if none of the QBs on the roster is capable of seizing the reins? What if we start having attrition from what was shaping up to be the best recruiting class we've had in a LONG time? What if Mcf***it's departure has a negative impact on future recruiting in key states like Florida, where he opened some doors?

IF Long [or Wilson or Kimble] is good enough, then Hunt being wally pipp'd isn't the worst outcome. Frankly, I'm very disappointed by the regression in his performance. Maybe someone like Long comes in, is a poor man's Marvin Graves, and we never look back.

But I have a feeling that you're right--this IS a BIG moment, but that it might not end up peachy and roses, like everyone hopes. More than anything, I'm tired of the lack of success. When are we ever going to turn the corner? We had so much momentum heading into last offsesaon--I never would have envisoned this year going as poorly as it had. Not with a veteran QB, so many returning starters, etc.

Austin Wilson is ready. He came in and won the game against Nova , that alone should give him the starting nod as that was baptism by fire. Pound AAM , change it up with Gully , GMo and Erv ,draw them into the box and then let's see if Wilson has an arm.

Me too--especially against Fla State. Tough debut game.

Long will get destroyed out there, the game will be moving at light speed, it could be one of the ugliest games very played by a QB at Syracuse but then again, could it get any worse? I am OK with it because the Wake game is much much bigger, like I said we aren't beating FSU with a Manning as our QB

That's my concern, as well. Remember when we marched Joe Fields out against GT before he was ready?

I just hope we don't get Long hurt, or that he starts to develop bad habits as a function of being thrown to the wolves a little too early. If he can avoid that, I think his future looks bright. This is going to be unpopular, but I like Long's potential more than Edouard's.

FSU's DC has no tape on anything to game plan on now. Their team is focused on ND next week. They are stacked with great athletes , but it's hard to be in a reactive position. I assume they will resort to constant pressure on a new starter. If the o-line and fire an A game and create a run game , could be interesting.

they're getting shut out this weekend. FSU's defense will outscore us. runs and screens. it'll make last years FSU and Clemson game look like Air Coryell

every game could be interesting with whatever cocktail of mushrooms, meth, and angel dust you're pounding

IF Hunt is out, I would be willing to wager we see a QB committee with Wilson and Long on Saturday; not one or the other.

Still sore that St. Doug is the toast of the town I see.

my opinion of marrone and my concern for your obvious addiction to opiates are two separate things

Scott put the coaches in the position where they are stronger and it's been forever that a new QB has come in for The Orange and shredded it. It has happened to us many times and I have seen it happen on other teams many times and I think maybe it's our turn .

Let's see if Lester can work with what he has, and use the portions of the playbook that fit.

Your opinion is your opinion. You're entitled - but I just have to ask why you feel this way?

Why did Wilson get passed over? That makes no sense. I feel like with an opp he might be pretty good. He can really spin it.

Also can I get a comparable on long? Nunes?

I feel like I should slap you for insulting AJ like that.

Just because he can throw the ball with velocity and it looks good out of his hand doesn't mean he can run a college offense.

I feel badly for Terrell and hope he has a complete recovery. That kid was playing on a broken leg - can't fault his heart nor effort. It will be tough for Wilson, whomever but perhaps in the long run there could be some positives along with the negatives. Terrell gets to watch and learn while healing - Wilson etc get invaluable experience - Kimble whomever gets to move up and lead the scout team. New roles including leadership ones will be up for grabs.

I hope McFukit stays on and becomes our recruiting coordinator/WR coach...but he is likely gone at the end of the season.

I bet we start AJ Long...

You know what's really sad about this?

The Hunt/McD news is the second story on ESPN.com's NCAAF page, and my first thought was, "Hey, alright! We're still a big enough name to warrant headlines!"
