Notice how TS had a defender in their face while they were attempting the last inbound pass. No idea why we don't do that.

if you can run the baseline the guy guarding is easily avoided so some coaches want the extra guy stopping a play further down the court. being only .9 it was a catch and shoot play so less chance of guys getting a great shot anyway so you want to stop a full court pass..
