There were actually some encouraging signs in the second half. The team played better as a whole, and made some strides.

The most frustrating thing though, is in a game of this magnitude, being the only game in town, you never really threaten.

BC lost today, but all anyone remembers nationwide is that they beat USC. We didn't even give people a chance across the country to say "huh, something good is happening at the 'Cuse." This is one of the few times this program has the national stage to themselves, to show casual and diehard fans alike that we have made strides.

All anyone will see is that we were overpowered, and that Syracuse is still what it has been for the last 13 years -- irrelevant. That's the most disappointing thing about this game (perception-wise at least).

I am encouraged that the playcalling in the second half was much more vertical. We didn't throw a single bubble screen I can remember. From watching HCSS in his pre-half interview talking about going downfield I wonder if he had a word with GMAC. If that is the offense moving forward I'm cool with it.

But the D is in trouble. Totally fundamentally unsound all over the field. Only hope there is if HCSS takes over again and Bullough is let go.

It's disconcerting that it takes us being down big late to actually open up the playbook.
I really do wonder if Lester started helping with play calling. Didn't he kind of help McDonald last year in the second half of the season? I thought I heard rumor of that somewhere.

Should be a sign of hope. ND's secondary is supposed to be very good. Hopefully Hunt proved something and put some things on tape for Ville to worry about.

The most encouraging thing was also kind of worrying. We moved the ball pretty well without Hunt running. Looked much better against a very complete secondary. I hope he heals up in time for Louisville

I was a bit frustrated with not establishing the power run in the first half but overall I think they put up a good fight. We should win next week, no excuses. If that happens, I'm happy with the direction this team/program is going.
