It's a bummer that we never really got to see the guy play well. If this is all we see of him he'll end up being an odd footnote in the program's history.

One other story I wonder about now - what did Hunt do to pass Loeb? It couldn't have all been the change in offense.

Best looking back-up QBs in the country - like ever.

Wow, it sounds like your not a big Hunt fan. Don't think you'll find a lot of die-hards here that have been L O N G I N G for a playmaking QB again that are concerned about the other two. That's just football.

I'm ecstatic about what Hunt showed actually. I'm just saying, kinda sucks for the one year player if his legacy is two losses, bunch of picks, and a horrible showing against an overmatched opponent, right? Wouldn't you want to remember the guy for doing something good?

I don't think we have seen the last of Drew. He will get more chances.

I didn't get that from his post at all. To me, it sounded like he feels bad for two guys that, by all accounts, were good guys and good teammates. One came pretty highly regarded. The other was the number 2 guy for three years. I'd like for guys like that to have a good ending to their stories too, but the best guy should play. That guy looks like TH. I'm looking forward to seeing how he plays against some tougher competition.

I'm very glad that Allen was able to come in yesterday and direct a scoring drive. I think that was overwhelming important for his confidence. You always need a viable backup in case of injury.

Exactly what does Allen offer that Hunt doesn't? From what I have seen Hunt is more accurate especially on the long passes, which we were told was Allen's strong point. I truly don't understand how Allen could have "won" the competition.

I want to see Hunt period - groom him for the future.

Allen will get his chance to play again only if Hunt gets banged up and that is a distinct possibility in the ACC.

I wish him the best as I do for Loeb and every kid at every other position. But again, it's football competition. There's a million stories of guys that got beat out. I felt bad for Hunt when he was beat out in the beginning too, but if Allen had set the world on fire,I wouldn't have thought much about it again.

Allen will play next week, just in a role reversal with Hunt from this week. Hunt starts, Allen comes in from the bullpen in relief. If you listen to Shafes press conference, I dont think hes about to abandon that ship yet (nor should he). Hopefully he uses this Tulane week to get them both a ton of snaps for the real season which starts against Clemson.

Perhaps, but Tulane may not be a cupcake and we not have the option of doing whatever we choose. If Hunt plays well, and the game is close, I don't think we will see Allen - nor should we if that t the case.

If Hunt plays well, and the game is close, that means our D is stinking up the joint. Judging from Shafers presser, and his liberal substitution patterns for the remainder of his team (we play a TON of guys), I don't think anyone has seen the last of Drew Allen.

If Shafer wants to prepare for the rest of the season, when the competition is considerably tougher than Wagner, he's got to commit to Hunt and forget about giving Allen any of Hunt's playing time. Hunt was good yesterday but he needs to keep improving.

Hunt has the same shot that allen got vs PSU except the win has to be gotten. if we go down 2-3 scores against tulane the backup comes in. if the game stays close in a low scoring game the backup may come in. i dont think Tulane will be held under 21 as they wont drop every other pass like wagner did and they have a really good runner as well

If I'm Allen and they tell me I'm not starting I'm heading back to Texas and working with a QB coach getting ready for the draft, then calling out that dudes who tanked for me to make Hunt look better.

Tulane is a danish, or an apple turnover...Hunt likes those :)

You really think some players didn't come to play just so Hunt could get in the game? I don't see Allen as the sort of person to make that argument & I don't see how Allen's performance suggests that he isn't responsible for allowing Hunt the opportunity to come in and outperform him.

I think the problem for Allen is mental. His confidence is shot. He is thinking too much and the game is moving too fast for him. I suppose at some point, he could regain confidence, but the team can't afford to wait for him, especially with a seemingly viable alternative available. I really hope Hunt's first taste of adversity won't destroy his confidence.

I'm sure the NFL would just be drooling over a QB who played 3 games, threw 2 TDs and 6 picks, quit, and blamed his teammates for his struggles. It would take one magical QB coach, who is just hanging around with nothing else to do during football season, to get a guy like that ready.

Good thing Allen isn't you.

'blamed his teammates for his struggles'

What's the story behind that statement?

It is what it is. Do we feel sorry for the third string left tackle because other guys turned out to be better?
That's not what I'm talking about at all.
