If it's over for Allen

Did anyone get a read of his demeanor after getting pulled and during the drive after drive where Hunt marched them down the field?

Kind of hard to expect that suddenly one player is all good, the other is all bad, and the success of the team is either full on or full off like yesterday. Things have to click for the team and the QB. They didn't yesterday for Allen, until the end. In the past he's more than shown he's capable of accuracy, distance, and thinking on his feet. The team as a whole is trying to find ways to make things click and fortunately we're starting to have some success.

We're of course not looking at the Heisman, but many Heisman winners have been passed over and considered mediocre or even failures before having great runs. During one play yesterday Manziel was run over and pushed back 15 yards before just chunking the ball into the air and having one of his receivers randomly catch it. That's clicking. Hopefully our team can figure out quickly who's good at what and how to get a little more of the clicking going.

'blamed his teammates for his struggles'

What's the story behind that statement?
Read the comment he was responding to where the guy said, "If I'm Allen... then I call out the guys that tanked for me to make Hunt look better."

I'm very glad that Allen was able to come in yesterday and direct a scoring drive. I think that was overwhelming important for his confidence. You always need a viable backup in case of injury.
Agreed. Said the same thing in the chat room. Hopefully we don't, but we may need him this season.

Allen is very robotic and needs to play to get better. He has had all kinds of formal training but nothing trains you for your career like actual game experience.

SU, of course doesn't have that luxury to wait for whenever that is.

Allen will play next week, just in a role reversal with Hunt from this week. Hunt starts, Allen comes in from the bullpen in relief. If you listen to Shafes press conference, I dont think hes about to abandon that ship yet (nor should he). Hopefully he uses this Tulane week to get them both a ton of snaps for the real season which starts against Clemson.

Why?

It's a bummer ae never really got to see the guy play well. If this is all we see of him he'll end up being an odd footnote in the program's history.

One other story I wonder about now - what did Hunt do to pass Loeb? It couldn't have all been the change in offense.

From what I have heard, the coaches still feel that Allen is a much better passer, and will continue to play.

We will see two QBs.

If true that's amazing. especially much better. Hunt was as accurate as you can be on 90% of his passes

Good question. I was trying to find out yesterday but couldn't locate him on the sideline. He was laying low somewhere.

Extremely disappointing to hear.

Doubtful.

Especially considering the obvious difference in terms of poise, feel, and accuracy that Hunt has demonstrated, whereas Allen has not.

He had his chance, but performed subpar. Time for a change.

missed that post. thanks for the explanation

That's too bad. Who cares if Allen is the better passer. He might pass better than both qbs I am watching on Sunday bills panthers. Game is different than when Schafer played

Wouldn't surprise me at all.

You have to search pretty far to find human beings more insanely stubborn than football coaches.

He's the better passer if you don't count whether they are caught or not.

I continue to be very confused by this line of thinking.

So far Allen has roughly 9 quarters of experience and Hunt has roughly 2. it seems to me that Hunt is the one who needs snaps.

How many backup quarterbacks will get 9 quarters of experience this year?

If Hunt was a 2 year starter or even a 1 year starter i would get it... but he is 2 quarters deep...
