Assuming Clemson beats NC State.

If all the teams ended up 6-2 would non-conference records matter?

I highly doubt we will finish 7-1 but 6-2 maybe.

Section VIII-4. Divisional Tiebreakers.
If more than one team in the same division is tied for the best winning percentage in its Conference games then, in order
to determine the divisional champion, the procedures listed below will be followed.
a. TWO-TEAM TIE.
1. Head-to-head competition between the two tied teams
2. Records of the tied teams within the division.
3. Head-to-head competition versus the team within the division with the best overall record (divisional and
non-divisional). Conference record and proceeding though the division. Multiple ties within the division
broken from first to last.
4. Overall record versus all common non-divisional opponents
5. Combined record vs. all non-division teams
6. Record versus common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish (divisional and non-divisional)
and proceeding through other common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish within their division.
7. The tied team with the highest ranking in the Bowl Championship Series Standings following the end of
regular season games shall be the divisional representative in the ACC Championship Game.
8. The representative shall be chosen by a draw.

b. THREE OR MORE TEAM TIE. (Once tie has been reduced to two teams, the two-team tiebreaker format is
used):
1. Combined head-to-head record among the tied teams
2. Records of the tied teams within the division.
3. Head-to-head competition vs. the team within the division with the best overall (divisional and non-divisional) Conference record, and proceeding through the division. Multiple ties within the division will be broken first to last.
4.Overall record for non-division teams
5. Combined record versus all common non-divisional teams.
6. Record versus common non-divisional with the best overall Conference (divisional and non-divisional
record) and proceeding through the other common non-divisional teams based on their order of finish
within the division.
7. The tied team with the highest ranking in the Bowl Championship Series Standings following the conclu
sion of regular season games shall be the divisional representative in the ACC Championship
Game, unless the second of the tied teams is ranked within five-or-fewer places of the highest ranked tied team. In this
case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the
ACC Championship Game.
8. The representative shall be chosen by a draw.

So basically if Syracuse lost to Miami and NC State loses to 2 Atlantic division teams we would have the tiebreaker over them.

I think Georgia Tech could beat Clemson.

So y'all don't think we're totally crazy.. Clemson has this same thread on TigerNet lol.
Clemson is the defending National Champ, ranked #2 in the polls before Friday night, predicted to win the ACC and join 3 other teams in the NCAA playoffs this year.
Syracuse is coming off a 4 win season, predicted to win 5-6 games, currently sitting at 4-3 and lost to MTSU 5 weeks ago.

Clemson should have a thread on this.
Syracuse should have a thread looking to have a repeat performance this weekend, then the following weekend, and so on, and make it to a decent bowl game.

One week at a time this year.

No, Clemson has a thread about "what-if" Syracuse wins out.

We're 4-3

We have BC, Wake at home
At Miami, Florida State, Louisville.

Florida State and Louisville were auto losses before the season. They aren’t auto losses anymore.

If for some miracle we could win those games then this week could be the difference.

We are fans we can think about this stuff. Dino isn’t.

We're 4-3
We are 4-3 but we haven’t lost a game by double digits.

This team has been in every game.

We could if we won this week think about the possibility of winning out.

I mean it’s unlikely but possible.

We dominated Clemson. The scoreboard was a 3 point win but our boys were dominate against an elite defense and our defense gave up 2 huge chunk plays and the rest of the way were good.

Delaney has told the ACC that they can no longer decide the tie breaker after Clemson man handled OSU, the Big 10 will now decide how the tie breaker will be handled.
Well played.

This is where I'm like hmm...

MTSU, let's just throw that one out. Inexplicable loss. Shafer playing mind games. Dino admitted he didn't have us ready for that. Still should've won if Riley doesn't muff the punt.

LSU and NC State, both on the road, both had us making monumental mistakes to give the other team points/take them off the board for ourselves yet we were in both games late.

Now things miiiiiight start to click... Our star players are playing like star players. Our young players are growing up. Our system is showing what it can be on both sides of the ball.

Clemson. Bryant hurt, then out in the 2nd half. They probably overlooked us...ok, that's fine.

We beat them down. Our defense dictated and our offense dictated. We made the huge mistake. We had a TD taken off the board by a 50/50 call. This wasn't a flukey Cal game beating down a suspect WSU. This was a win that was much further apart than the final score indicated.

Our issue is depth. We have good players but not what we need behind them if injuries occur. If we get lucky on the injury front... we just might be good?

Miami is a very good litmus test for what this team is right now.

I find your lack of irrational confidence disturbing.

Would the MTSU loss be looked at as a bad one if Brent Stockstill didn't get hurt? They haven't had him since he got injured against Syracuse. The trainers gave him something to finish the game. If Riley doesn't drop the punt, Cuse probably puts them away, but the expectations were high for a MTSU team with NFL talent at receiver and under center. This wasn't Liberty or Holy Cross that Syracuse lost to.

Ahh. well, then I like Clemson even more now. There fans seem to be the most reasonable as our opponents.

Yes -- the revelation was that our lines held up against the highly rated OL and the DL of Clemson, and Dungey showed he is one of the better players in the ACC.

Depth -- Babers said pre-season that our 1s were pretty good. For the most part, those 1s are intact at this mid-way point of the season, though a bye week would be a help. Bradshaw is out, and we don't know when Coleman & Black will return. Custis is back, Robinson continues to emerge at a DE spot. In the secondary, Williams & Dowels are filling in at times, but both have starting experience. Byrne is the primary OL back-up -- he also has starting experience. We haven't had to rely much on true frosh other than Elmore -- Jonathan, Hackett, Nykeim Johnson have had cameos, and Pierre got a cup of coffee at RB.

So, we have a chance.

Why is playing Miami on the road a litmus test for anything? This need to beat Miami to prove Friday wasn't a fluke stuff is ridiculous.

If they had won on gift points and stole the game that might be true, but SU beat them straight up after giving up a defensive score.

I agree that it’s not about proving anything about the Clemson game. But it does tell us a lot about the trajectory. You’re a numbers guy - the numbers are trending up - but by how much, is still an open question. A win at undefeated Miami would tell us a lot about the rest of the schedule.

I think Miami is too much too soon.

We'll get a much needed week off after that game, and then November will tell us what we want to know. Based on how the teams are playing, all 4 of those games are winnable. Not saying it will happen, just saying each taken individually is a winnable game for this team, especially with the depth improvements.

Totally fine with the thread. People need to start realizing this team is very very good. NCST and LSU are 2 of the top 15 teams in the country and we went toe to toe with both on the road. Never in either game did I think for one second we were in over our heads. Then Clemson came to our house and we thoroughly dominated them. There is absolutely no reason we shouldn't be thinking about winning the division. We have the 2 toughest games behind us. We have Wake (who is pretty good) and BC at home. Those should be thought of as wins. Then we have Louisville and FSU, who both are very down and could be in who cares mode by the time we play. This Miami game will be a huge test, but with how we are playing it's not inconceivable that we go 4-1 to close the year.
