[QUOTE="tep624, post: 3148781, member: 430"] The line is a wreck and you are right, it's hard to gauge anything right now on the offensive side of the ball because they can't do anything right, Passing, Running, even blocking on specials. I think the biggest issue is the lack of HS offensive linemen we are recruiting in general. It leaves you little margin of error if development is an issue or becomes an issue. 2016 was the high watermark with 4 (one medically DQ'ed in Liam O'Sullivan) and since then we've only taken 2 a year with a JUCO or Grad Transfer sprinkled in. This year we needed a higher end Grad transfer badly with the senior talent we lost off the line but there weren't that many available. I think the one kid we really wanted from Northern Illinois went to FSU. But I mean that's pretty telling when even FSU is chasing after MAC grad transfer lineman, it just wasn't a particularly strong grad transfer market for OL. Alexander was the best remaining option but clearly hasn't come along like we expected. 2016 Heckel - Injured Servais - C Starter Clark - Not on 2 Deep O'Sullivan - DQ'ed 2017 D. Davis - RG Starter P. Davis - RG Backup 2018 Vetorello - LT Starter White - Not on 2 Deep 2019 Red - Not on 2 Deep Bergeron - Not on 2 Deep I mean development for HS'ers, I think 2018 and 2019 follows the standard course. You have one guy in Vetorello playing now, he really should be at RT but due to injuries he's been bounced around. You put him on a veteran cohesive line and I think he does fine. Rest of the guys are redshirting or need another year in White's case. 16/17 is the issue really. 2016 in particular. Heckel's injury has compounded it but Clark not panning out, O'Sullivan getting DQ'ed, those were 2 guys that should be in the Tackle 2 deep right now and are not. To only have 1 guy on the 2 deep right now out of a class of 4 as seniors or RS Jr's is lousy. Then 2017 follows that up with just 2 interior guys. Not a lot of balance at all there. And again you can sprinkle in some grad transfers to help, and I don't think that's a bad strategy but when you run into a weak grad transfer year for OL and you really need them, you find what we have right now.
