They asked both Trimboli & Porter what their favorite Desko story was. This was Trimboli’s
“A good story, we were in the Dome in the locker room last season getting ready for a game with some hype-up music. We use these—they’re smelling salts they’re called. We pass them around the locker room. You use them when you’re lifting to get fired up. We just think we’re tough guys and we smell the salts, and it gets us going, ready for the game. Big Man — we call [Desko], “Big Man” — he asks, “What is that?” He’s pretty out of the loop with stuff and he had no idea what we were doing. So, we showed him. We told him what it was—told him it gets your fired up, ready for the game. Of course, he’s always ready to get going, fired up around game time. So, he took the smelling salts out of my hands and he took a big whiff of them. You’re not really supposed to whiff close to them. You’re supposed to do it from distance. He got his nose right up in there, he got a little too much I think and made a pretty unreal face. The boys went nuts. We went out and got a win after that.”
