Don't know whether it was visible on tv, but I suspect it was visible to those in the Dome.

Three (I am not making this up) errant balls came in the direction of my head during the game -- all of which I batted away.

Problem is .... I think I broke a finger while batting away the third one.

It is sore, discolored and swollen. An interesting souvenir, I guess. If it is not better by Monday, I will go to the local walk-in clinic -- even though i suspect there is not much they can do for a broken finger other than tape it (which I have already done).

Hey, I am happy to take one for the team -- if it meant a win in today's odd game.

Orthopedic problems for CTO during a title run. This is a good omen people.

Put it on ice!

Show up to practice tomorrow with your hand and finger taped...and then proceed to walk up to Triche and Dion to show them how much you all now have in common.

:p

I hope it's not the middle finger. That could be misinterpeted.

I would think you should qualify to be seen by the team doctor. Ice it. Best of luck.

Will watch you for the assist when I watch the replay. Hope it's not your shooting hand.

I am left-handed... and it is the index finger on my left hand. Kind of weird to try to write.

If there is anything positive, I think it's improved your typing. Plus, it might help your curve ball. Yanks are still looking for another starter.

CTO lead the team in blocks with three. Baye was second with two. Way to swat them CTO! We may need you in Philly Wednesday night.

Yet another example of how dirty Marquette's play style is. Clutching, grabbing, holding, pushing, shoving our players, and trying to take out our best fans gangland style, in broad daylight.

Buzz Williams. Lovable Curley Howard lookalike or Madman Amongst Us?

You would think this kind of thing would happen playing DePaul rather than Marquette. I hope ESPN and the P-S follow up on this story. How many other fans have been taken out by Buzz and his minions in away games? Let's review gameday tapes starting right now.

Best wishes Joyce on a full recovery. If I know JB (and I think I do). the CTO of Marquette, whoever that is, is in big trouble.

I hope you heal quickly, Joyce. In the meantime, I hope that holding up that index finger stays relevant for a while. Most importantly, I hope you are able to hold it up in early April in N'awlins. #numberone

After diagnosing CTO's x-ray I'm happy to report there is no break. There appears to be a partial rupture of the left collateral ligament of the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint. However, this ligament is the main thing that prevents the finger from bending sideways toward the thumb, so it’s pretty important.

You did the right thing in taping it. It eliminates the possibility of oblique forces that might cause further damage to the ligament.
Two months of rest are called for, along with daily exercises to maintain and restore the finger’s range of motion. The prognosis? A full recovery in time. In the meanwhile, please learn to write with your right hand and peck & hunt with it while typing.

BTW, I slept at a Holiday Inn last night.

In all seriousness good luck in your recovery.

Toga, I had not thought of that. (Toga is referring to the stress fracture in my foot that I was dealing with in Albany and New Orleans in 2003).

Can you sue the Marquette player that threw the pass? They were clearly targeting you. One errant pass I can see, but three? They have laws against stalking high profile SU fans. ;)

CTO, I'm not wishing you ill but it seems your injury status has a proven positive impact on SU. If you can handle playing hurt, this may be a really good thing.

If I can ask one more thing, what sense do you have of JB's level of confidence in this team? He seems to be laughing a lot, though he was "annoyed" toward the end of the Marquette game. Can you share a read of his thoughts about this team?

Could have been worse. Just think if you were using your finger at the time ala Jim Boeheim nose tweeking.

Headline in PS: Ball Hits Syracuse Fan on Her Finger and Breaks Her Nose.

Oh, nooooo! That's terrible. I hope you feel better soon. Whenever I see players (let alone balls) leaping into the crowd, I wonder why more fans aren't killed?? Yet, it never seems to happen. At any rate, glad you survived and take care of that finger! I don't understand the part about the "good omen." Were you in a body cast for the 2003 season?
