Illinois fired Ron Zook today

He opened 6-0 then lost his last 6 games. If they go to a bowl game the def coordinator will coach the team.

Zook had them in the Rose Bowl in 2008! Couldn't survive any longer though.

This is Zook's 7th season. He has a record of 34-51 at Illinois. You want to compare that to Marrone who is in year three and has a 17-19 record?

Why do the Marrone appologists resort to positions that have no bearing on the facts? What does Ron Zook and his record have to do with Marrone and his? Forget that it is Big Ten versus the Big East. Who cares how Illinois did this year? Bottom line is Marrone and company are regressing in a crap conference. Marrone's record is padded with terrible wins against mostly bad teams. When he has had a chance to step up - he has failed over and over again. Go ahead - mention the Pinstripe Bowl where the refs helped and KSU appeared to care less. Therefore a Marrone appologist jumped on a thread about Zook that had ZERO mention of Marrone - and for no reason at all tried to make a point that Doug's record is far more impressive than Zook's - despite the fact that the original post had NO mention of Marrone.
