If Coleman decides on SU, fantastic. He looks like a very good one and the staff is high on him. Always great to keep a hometown kid. On that topic, LAX has the West Gennie kids, hoops has the JD kids, how about some love for an ESM kid just once?

If Coleman decides on KY, then I'm all in on Fab, Baye, and Rak. Plus whomever else we end up with eventually. We're going to be fine in the middle for the next few years regardless.

I'd vastly prefer the former, but if it's the latter the world will go on spinning and we'll be OK.

Agree.

I am not. Maybe coleman is going to be awesome, maybe he is going to be a bust. I dont know. But perception matters and you need to protect your home turf when it comes to HS studs. I strong believe that we need to take that precedent and nail it to a sign on the Syracuse border to keep out other programs. It might not matter so much now with JB because the man is a God, but its will definitely matter for our post-JB future.

in terms of performance on the court, i am sure we'll be fine regardless.

completely agree. I am not as high on this kid as many people are so him going elswhere wouldnt crush me but we need to land local kids with this much upside. I hope he does decide to come here but to me its not life or death if he goes elsewhere.

I hope we get DC. But recruiting the Syracuse area is irrelevant to the success of SU basketball now and in the future.

I think we have to protect our borders but we currently have three guys who can play the same position. If he chooses to go elsewhere, to me it will be an indication of just how strong he views us as being at the position he wants to play.

He watched practice this weekend. Either he thinks he can get PT ahead of Fab, Baye, or Rak over the next few years or he feels he can't.

What he announces later today will answer that question and if he chooses KY, it won't have anything to do with protecting our borders; it will mean that he views the strength of the logjam in the middle at SU to be too much for him to overcome.

My opinion, anyway.

I'm on board with that thought process

I am with you. I won't hate DC if he elects to go elsewhere. He is a fine player who was ranked as the best prospect in the country for most of this HS career. Stopped growing early and hasn't changed much phyiscally over the last 3 years, which has caused him to drop as others in his class have become more physically mature, but he is a real talent.

Excellent athletic ability for his size, runs the court well and his surprising agility and quickness for his size. Will be a top notch rebounder. Won't block shots but will body up inside and won't back down to anyone.

I would love to have him.

Sounds about right to me, though if Coleman picks SU, it may also be because he's not expecting all three of our bigs to be back next year. One way or another, he would be thinking that he's in pretty good shape to find PT.

Success depends more on recruiting than anything else and it isn't even close. We need to protect our home turf and our pipelines and expand them. Other coaches should not feel that they can come in and take kids from our turf. Protecting our image goes beyond current recruits. Its about the future.

How much of a chance would we have for a five star from Kentucky or N Carolina? It should work both ways. They need to know that they do not have a chance poaching in our turf. Success depends on branding. Corporations slug it out over sales. Basketball colleges slug it out over recruiting. In the end, it is all about image. If we are poached our image is soft.

Did Pay Pal think he could get Drummond from UCon? We do not know when or where the next top 10 player will come from, but we do know that every top ten player attracts a lot of attention. Our odds of keeping someone from our turf depends on the image other coaches have regarding how hard it would be to take someone from our turf.
