I'm not on the team so I can look past storz

Just looking at the box score with Penn State and it was a close game. The Purdue QB threw it 58 times...yowza...that is allot of slinging. Not much of a run game seemingly. Was only sacked twice. The game was at Purdue so they had a crowd edge and1st game at home for them probably had the team amped. From what I saw us do with Louisville, I would expect this to be a winnable and competitive game. We need to disrupt the center of the pocket and hit OConnall hard and frequently. First things first though and put the boot to UConn. No underestimating or looking past.

I actually feel more confident about the Purdue game than uva. They can still put up
Points and I have to imagine their players will have some extra motivation going up against their old coordinator.
O’Connell is def a legit qb for Purdue but wonder how his throws are after a few hits and seemed to struggle more with penn state after they started pressuring more.

They are good but assuming we eat UCONN alive we should expect to win in the Dome

I imagine a high scoring stressful game. They will have that QB doing quick releases to protect him. Will need discipline in secondary.

That's a game that screams similar to Purdue PSU. 41-38 type game

they throw a lot of schemes that allow the throws to come out quick and confuse the D and they have 2-3 Wrs that are hard to handle 1-1.. he does not handle pressure well so they question will be can we confuse him enough to get home. Our zone D is still not very good, they also have a big TE that we always struggle to cover.. I do think we can score on them. It may take 35 to win the game unless we can cause 2-3 TOs again. It may turn out to be like the Minn game years back in the Dome

Sounds fun.

For those who watched Purdue vs. Penn St. whatcha think of the Boilermakers?
Their defense is big and tough and defends the run very well. I think they will get a rush on Garrett sometimes but they lack a great pass rusher. To me, they look built to stop ther run. It will be hard to run it on them and I suspect we will need to establish a passing game before we start rolling running the ball.

Believe both starters at CB are hurt and they are backfilling with lesser players. We need to take advantage here.

Overall, I think their defense is definitely better than UL.

On offense, their RBs look pretty good. Not as good as the UL RBs. Their WRs are quite good. Iowa transfer Charlie Jones was the only WR who got open consistently. He is more of an intermediate route possession guy. Very much along the lines of Hudson, the UL WR who they went to so often on Saturday.

As other have noted, they pass it a lot and they rarely use long developing routes. Lots of short passes thrown just shortly after the ball is snapped. I think they were afraid of getting sacks against Penn State. They had some athletes on their DL. And as others have mentioned, Aiden is no Malik Cunningham and he isn’t very fast or athletic. Penn State played the Purdue WRs tight, did not respect their ability to make big plays and the Purdue WRs struggled to get open. Only Jones could. O’Connell was forced to throw the ball quickly into tiny windows and he was often unsuccessful. Hence he only completed 29 of 58 throws.

I expect Syracuse to play Purdue the same way. Thinking Purdue will probably not try to establish the run as hard as UL did. UL kept trying into the fourth quarter, ignoring their continued failures on this front. Satterfield was not willing to change his game plan and that was great for Syracuse.

This one is going to be a dogfight.

3-15 vs the B-10 since 2000. Need to reverse that trend
Yikes.

Know we had some tough Northwestern games. Minnesota too. Iowa disappointment.

Our secondary is loaded, they can't run the ball against competent defenses, and they can't stop teams with a legit run game.

Cross your fingers that we're underdogs again and then empty your account on our moneyline like we all did Saturday night

Amazing only 2 Bowl games versus the B1G. Must be Ohio State and Minnesota, then.

So GRob beat the Big 10, Marrone beat the Big 10, Shafer beat the Big 10. Time for Dino to beat the Big 10. Two extremely disappointing efforts so far.

Purdue having no real running game and at home is big. Wish it was at night. Need to make it out of next week without injuries.

Oregon State is my team that I bet on every week no matter what and can't help it Purdue somehow took them down week 1 last year I'm not overconfident.

Good team that runs a very good pass happy / spread offense. It will be a good game that could go either way. Their QB is no joke but not mobile.
Agreed 100%. It will be a tough game

O'Connell is an impressive passer. This will be a close game. Their offense is productive in the air, like old-BYU/Anae's. I hope our defensive coaches scout them as well as they did Louisville this year. Purdue's defense had Penn State bottled up most of the game, then when the chips were down somehow PSU marched down the field and scored the winning TD. Brohm will take a lot of criticism for not running the ball, and burning the clock in the last 8 minutes with a lead. They played right into PSU's hands with that strategy. Oddly, Purdue seemed to keep forcing passes toward Joey Porter, Jr. (CB) who broke up a lot of passes.
