These guys are huge targets. Is it simply that they are poor route runners? Slow? What is the deal with them?

Seems like longer development time than what people thought, which is fine, they're still young. Unfortunately Custis had his redshirt burned last year. (not to go into that topic again, just saying).

Did Cornelius play yesterday? I don't recall seeing him. No status that I can find, although Whitner is getting credit for McFarlane's 23 yard wheel route catch.

Listed as having participated.

They're 3rd string. AC and Avant are ahead of them.

Maybe we'll see packages for them in the future, but not yet I guess.

AC and Avant played significant snaps yesterday.

Is Trey D playing at all?

Looks like he is 4th string? When Parris went down for the game Moore went in at TE. Cam was in there as well. Not sure what happened there?

As for Custis I really wish he took a redshirt last year. Hardly played last year, and hasn't sniffed the field this year other then mop up duty vs URI. I wonder if it's the different offenses, or they just aren't as good as many of us expected?

From what I understand, Dunk was out with an injury yesterday.

Thanks, was curious about AC. But I can't read the stupid #'s, so if you don't get a catch, I have trouble knowing if you were in the game. At least Avant threw a pass.

He was in the regular rotation. So was Avant.

SU had around 50 offensive plays and 14 pass attempts. Wake ran almost 80 plays and had a 10 minute advantage on TOP. When the other team is moving methodically down the field and eating clock and you're slowing things down for the sake of your green QB, you run less plays and less players in and out. And this offense so far doesn't seem to have many 3 wide or 4 wide empty backfield formations. As someone else said, the roster is still set up for McF'it's offense, which means tons of receivers. I'm not sure we can say it's a development problem as much as a numbers problem. Lester doesn't need the third string guys out there, at least for now.

Don't disagree with your main point, but I really don't think we have seen more than about 25% of the playbook. As Dungey get more comfortable (which may happen faster than we think), I think we will see a bit of everything. A receiver in motion from the wing is just about the same as a receiver split out. As a matter of fact, it may be easier to get off of the LOS.

i think the lack of hunt is really whats limiting the play book. you can see the runs built in but you can do it when you have 2 QBs that can run it , Wilson not so much, so you have to pick your spots. Long showed a decent amount of quickness but we need to protect the QB from hits.

We only passed the ball 14 times so the wide receivers we used didn't necessarily show up in the box score. I think that will change as the season progresses.

Never in my life have I seen players hyped up, just to literally never even play, more than SU wideouts.

Seriously, I keep hearing how talented some of these guys are. What's the deal?

They are the secret weapons for LSU that ottoingrotto was talking about

You can only play so many guys, and they are what, in their second year. Kind of early to imply they are busts.

Neither Cornelius, or Avant have shown any indication in the 1st 2 games, that they can play at this level. Some time this year, Lester has to get some receivers, besides Estime, and Ishmael, who can make plays, by getting yardage after the catch.

Didn't say they were busts.

I'm saying I constantly read POSTS about them where they are so hyped up and don't make a catch seemingly all season. Not a knock on them really, just the posts about them.

I think it's crazy, personally.

Their first year was under at first an incoherent maniac and then a transition to a guy in an impossible position.

They are two games into their second year with a team that has run 63 plays per game with a new QB.

And it's not their fault that people who see size and "speed" numbers and make a bunch of projections based on highlights, hopes and prayers, and the fact that McDonald recruited them made a lot of posts.

They could be busts, they could transfer, they might end up being great their last two years. They only people who really know are in the program.
