Haven’t watched much Miami until yesterday. Knew their players well, as most came in from other power conferences schools. Was really impressed with his actual plan on offense. They did an outstanding job screening our bigs down low, leading to gimme buckets. And you’re doing it against the right team, because no way in heck was our staff going to figure out how to counter that.

I feel like this season may be the floor of what Miami is going to be under his watch….We have to get it together quick. He looks like the real deal…

Exactly. Then look at the other end of the spectrum Brownell has like 5x the experience as any other ACC head coach right now. He was a few ATO plays away from getting beat by Autry.

The margins are just razor thin in P5 play. Every possession matters.

A coach has gotta be able to put his team in a position where they’re not getting abused by the other coach. And they have to be able to steal a bucket here or there from the other team in big moments.

It’s why Autry won’t be in the big chair much longer. That and I don’t get the impression his players respect or fear him.

Miami did a much better job with player personnel moves and controlling the ebb and flow of the game. They had a game plan we struggled to react to and executed some well designed plays out of the time-outs. Jai Lucas' postgame press conference was really impressive.

Heck his pedigree is pretty darn good…father is John Lucas plus he played under Billy Donovan at Florida and then Rick Barnes at Texas. He has been an assistant under guys like Jon Scheyer, PayCal, Shaka Smart, and Barnes.
Syracuse would do well if they landed someone with half of the pedigree of Jai.

Amazing what an actual coach can do

It would be interesting to see if being an ex Dukie would cause some heads to explode on this forum. ;)

Miami has given us the blueprint to follow for hiring our next coach. Larranaga stepped down as coach early in the season. Miami had Lucas as their coach by early to mid February. This is why we should move on from Red soon. We can allow the formal hiring process to begin immediately. Who cares if we do not have a competent assistant. The future is more important than this season which is going nowhere.

Some of those back screens they were doing down low against the zone were masterful. Had Kyle in 2 v 1 situations at times and there was nothing he could do about it.

Year 1 of Lucas is already ahead of Year 3 of Autry. I hope all the Autry defenders and the you can't fire him mid season folks in the media understand that.
