In our eight ACC games so far, we have only "won" one 2nd half

I'm not sure how, but I fear our opponents have figured out our offense.

However, we still probably catch them a little off guard by having so much more talent.
After that they have to adjust a bit to game speed and their talent deficit.
Then they have to adjust to their shock that that by standing around, or dribbling in place, we're really not just playing possum.
Then in the second half, we're toast! Our only hope is that we bore them to death with our lack of ball movement. :(

So far, that's not working out.

for me it seems a bit simpler . and it hurts to say it but. there is no pressure to win at syracuse anymore. we've simply embraced our lesser also ran status . sadly.
Not sure of the who or the how of this message but seems just a tad simplistic of a take.

This is satire and truth wrapped up in one post.

really can't blame fatigue or foul trouble. we've been subbing liberally (many think too) . gotta be the adjustments no ? they make em and we don't. someone on that bench ain't critically analyzing 1st half where we're strong and where we're weak. identify the mismatches . who to attack and where to defend. game strategy 101.

I also assume instead of motivating and hyping up the team at halftime, this is what Red is doing:

red doesnt make adjustments other than turning the entire offense into iso ball...it happens every second half

the offense works better when the team is passing and getting assists...which doesnt happen in the 2nd half

i guarantee if anyone researched the numbers that the team has more 1st half assists than 2nd half assists

other opponents make adjustments and improve as the team game goes on

i looked up ACC (conference only games ) mpg this season . we have 3 players in the top 50 . donnie averages about 34 which would place him around #4 to #8 . not sure why he's not listed . jjj starling is at #30 and george at #37. under jim boeheim 2022 we had 4 players in the top 15 mpg .
( buddy #1 , jimmy #4 , swider #7 and jg3 #15 )
so obviously we've swung from one extreme to the other. need to find some middle ground minutes wise.
but fatigue and foul trouble shouldn't be issues this year. lack of focus and discipline ? maybe.

On the 2nd halves. I won't go into coaching adjustments, that's been beat to death and a moot point because Autry will be gone.

Just on the players shooting. We are shooting close to 30% from 3 in the 2nd halves of ACC play. In the first halves its close to 40%. We take more and make more in the 1st half and it keeps a defense honest. We take less and make dramatically less in the 2nd.

You simply cannot sustain an offense if your team cannot make 3's. Here are the 2nd half 3's. I stopped counting in garbage time btw.

NCState 1-7
Miami 2-7
VT 1-8
BC 3-6

The easiest way to beat us is to just pack in the paint and wait for us to be dumb and launch 3's that we can't make. The other coach doesn't even need to adjust that much to us defensively.

And before people say yea but Autry is not running plays and getting them good shots. Yes that's true but just go back and look at how many open looks we miss as well. We can't make the open shots anyway and we cant get good looks so it's all just bad.

Why is he still coach?

I ask every week and it’s crazy answers. Pro sport people.
Higher ed is a different animal. On top of that, this was a "weird" hire to begin with from the details that have come loose on it, with a much larger college admin role than typical to manage JB's exit. Unless something really weird happens, I think Red's dismissal will be handled with the minimum possible disruption, meaning no in-season termination. I expect Red to be treated with respect and dignity by SU until the final whistle, even if he's told beforehand. The team's performance is already more of a circus than the university wants, and there a lot of ways that a midseason dismissal can go poorly and make SU lose control of the narrative... which can potentially make everything harder that needs to come next.

That's the prism through which the decision-makers are viewing things.
