In the modern college basketball era post-1985 what is the greatest single game performance by an SU player?

Best half - Adrian Autry against Missouri - something like 30 points in the 2nd half and they didn’t count a basket he made from his knees.
Awesome choice. Loved that team, they brought back immediate hope and excitement after the 1993 ban.

Man there are so many. If I can remember it off the top of my head than it was memorable for me at least so here a couple

Autry vs Missouri
Melo vs Texas
GMac 1st half vs Kansas
Wallace vs Georgia
Bill Owens vs Georgetown

Did Lawrence never have a dominant game that anyone would throw out there? I'm not saying he did but this thread proves he was the quietest scorer ever.

My votes go to Melo vs Texas, GMAC vs Kansas, Wallace vs Georgia

GMAC vs BYU was incredible too and is also up there. The three above were on bigger stages.

The 3-point shot was universally adopted in college basketball in 1986.

Well, derp, that does make sense. I don't know why I was thinking it was a year earlier.

Was pretty dominant scoring ~36 at Nova (or was it Pitt) his junior year, I think. But mostly your second sentence.

If we beat UNC the other night, Cole's game would have been up there.

It’s a good question.
Melo vs. Texas 2003 is my answer.

That's a great choice. That game was his best of the entire tourney.

DC freshman year in the NC finals vs. Indiana comes to mind.

Rony Seikaly agains Dwayne Schintzus was an all-time game

Rony had a hell of a game against Kansas, too, to get us to the Final Four.

Gerry - six 3's in the first half of the Natty vs. Kansas. We had a 20 point lead in the first half of that game. It was nuts.

'96 game vs. Georgia to get us to the Final Four, and then the next game vs. Miss. State. Wallace was a monster, the best player in college basketball for a month.

GMac had a muscle pull and was literally done after that BYU effort. If I recall, that was the year that Gerry (and Devo) won 3 games at the buzzer to get us to the Big East Final. So, Gerry getting hurt after that remarkable effort felt kind or empty compared to more significant games.

LOMO was a sneaky ninja baseline assassin. i do seem to recall one TO...

He had a couple shootouts with Kerry Kittles that I recall.

One of the best defensive performance may be the game against Seton Hall in 2012 where Fab Melo had 12 points, 10 blocks and 7 rebounds, and Syracuse gave up 49. Still blows my mind the change between his frosh and soph season.

Limited minutes, too. Boeheim pulled him early so he wouldn't get a big head. Owned Herb Pope that night (I think this was our first game against SHU after their crazy shooting performance/blowout at the Dome the previous year).

Gmac had 43 against BYU in 2004. He was injured in 2006 against Texas A&M.

Thanks fpr the correction. Memories from 15-20 years aren't as clear as they used to be!

There are better answers in more important games, but Warrick dropping 32 on a very good Villanova team in Philly in 2005 was a show.

Fab was so good that year.

In a must win game against NC State at the Dome late in 2016, Gbinije had 34 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Shot 11-18 from the field and 8-13 from 3. Without that win, we’re probably not in the tourney to make a final four run. He put the team on his back.

Still wonder what GMAC would have done in the second half if he didn’t crash into the scorer’s table and hurt his ribs. He was on fire in the first half, absolutely clutch!

He hits 3-4 more 3pointers, we win the game in a blowout, and Hak doesn't get his "One Shining Moment".

Always thought he hurt his hand on the table.
