Indiana - uh yeah

As I have said earlier sr leadership is instrumental in these really good teams. I know we don’t have the money but we better find it. I’m telling u if I was Fran I would pay Cig to stay there for one week and watch these guys coach up team. You never can stop learning.

Would love to know how much Cuban has committed to them. Rumor is he’s donated 6 million alone to the Rugby club in the past so I can only imagine what he’s doing for football both from an NIL and staff standpoint.

Cignetti should be our coach but instead we hired a DB coach. I like Brown but he’s not in the same league as Cignetti.

Cignetti was never, ever, ever going to sign a contract with Syracuse. Not. Ever. And that was pretty well understood even on this board in 2023 when we were looking for a coach. Would we have wanted him? Absolutely. But - it wasn’t going to happen.

Stuff like this is why I have a hard time taking people who criticize Wildhack seriously. “He should have done something we knew was impossible at the time!” It’s just fans looking to be miserable and inventing absurd reasons to justify that.

If Miami upsets Indiana do the pundits say the game was a fluke or would they give credit to Miami for the win? Alabama probably didnt belong in the playoff field. Oregon always comes up small in big games. Miami could be their biggest test of the post season.

Not sure it was clear what I was saying. Not moneyball as in cheap, but as in the best player for the money and not the most expensive player available. Mendoza was probably 3rd or 4th. They could’ve paid more for Mateer ($3m) or Beck ($4m), they didn’t, and it would’ve been a mistake if they had.

Basically, they were both high rollers and also smart with their money at the same time. They maximized everything.
Spend wisely, don’t chase every shiny toy.

Miami would not be a fluke IMO. They are loaded. Look who they’ve beaten this year from Week 1 to present. If they also beat Indiana, they are the clear champ.

Cristobal has a history of “doing less with more” and this year appeared no different with those 2 L’s. He appears to have figured something out though.

Can I like this post 7X?

In the last few years they've invested over $60 million into football. I would guess he gave a nice chunk of that.

If Miami can run the football they have a shot.

Control the clock, shorten the game, wear Indiana down.

But they cannot make mistakes.
Their offensive line can pull off a Woody Hayes approach to their offense, but ultimately they won't be able to hold up on the defensive end. Getting 2 touchdowns behind will dictate a more open offensive scheme and it won't work for Miami.

He would have chosen Indiana over SU. I don’t think people question that.

But it is legit to question if we even went after Cignetti at all. He was at JMU. He wasn’t highly sought after. His season was over before Indiana even fired their HC.

Would we have lost out? Yes. Did we even try? That is unknown. What if Indiana had gone for a hotshot coordinator instead?

Just speculation, but am thinking IU had already reached out to him when it was clear they were getting a new coach which I am assuming was mid season. If SU reaches out prior to IU contacting him I’m sure he would’ve listened to JW. Who knows what happened behind the scenes.

Based on the broadcast last night, this is only part of the story. I swore I heard Sean McD say that Indiana was not a deep team, and to make up for that Cignetti and his coaches have guys trained to play multiple positions so that they can keep experienced players on the field. He is using many unorthodox methods to manage this roster. It’s incredible and it’s working. If SU tried the same thing, we’d have confusion all over the field. Cook couldn’t even play his own position.
