Indoor Practice Facility Signage

I think someone here said that the plan was to have larger signage but the city wouldn't allow it due to some building code or such.
Plan was to have a much larger "S" but there was a problem incorporating that and the new signage once a donor came on.

With a 40' extension ladder and a pocket full of orange sharpies it can be taken care of.

The best time to do this is when we are celebrating after the national championship game, distractions will be needed

Well while you are up there, if it isn't illuminated, get some orange lights and a long extension cord. Think Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation. ;)

Love how stark the S is against the white building I would have gone bigger with the S but this looks tasteful for the long term. It keeps more focus on the scale and presence of the building than the sign on it.
It's probably 8 feet tall .. they just forgot it was going on a gargantuan building.

Any night time pictures yet?

I'll try to remember to snap one today or tomorrow. It's really a nice look.

Please tell me the LEDs are orange... or at least not blue.

Ha, it's actually close to a white/blue as an outline for the S, but I bet you're going to love it. Understated but eye-catching at the same time, and it doesn't distract from the colored lights on Manley.

Is there a pinkish hue?

A rosy glow.
LEDs tend to be cooler. Usually they are specified to have a yellowish color "temperature" in order to be warmer or to appear more like an incandescent fixture. Given this is outdoors, the intent to get more contrast so that it is legible is a factor so a cooler temp would be called for. It is a truer white, but as we are all used to a yellow tint without knowing it, the true white seems blueish (cooler). The signage is back lit so the edges glow and the shape of the "S" punches out from the wall of the facility. It is a timeless and classy look in my opinion. Orange lighting would have been too Vegas IMO and we'd hate it in five years as cheesy.

This is pretty much off topic but - I spent 5 days in Chicago a couple of months ago. It was my first ever visit. One of the things I absolutely loved about the place was fantastic amount of old school neon signs on businesses. It was art. It was awesome.

I will be visiting from California for the Pitt game. Are the IPF. or the football or Melo Center facilities open for "touring" on game days?

I concur. Was there for a bachelor party a couple months ago, what a great city.

Stopped to take this pic on the way home from dinner last night. View attachment 49869

Looks cool and everything, but I would really like to see what it would be with orange LEDs. Not saying I don't like the white lights, but either the S needs to be slightly lighted with Orange or have the LEDs as a bright orange.

Anybody else have clip art skills to show us potentially what that would like that?

Anybody have any idea what kind of sprucing up is planned for the interior? Definitely need some orange in there!
