Original was supposed to be, I will have to look into whether or not this version will be.

Plan was to have a much larger "S" but there was a problem incorporating that and the new signage once a donor came on.I think someone here said that the plan was to have larger signage but the city wouldn't allow it due to some building code or such.
With a 40' extension ladder and a pocket full of orange sharpies it can be taken care of.I believe in the original plans the S was suppose to be larger.![]()

The best time to do this is when we are celebrating after the national championship game, distractions will be needed

He's got a kid for thatWell while you are up there, if it isn't illuminated, get some orange lights and a long extension cord. Think Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation.![]()

It's probably 8 feet tall .. they just forgot it was going on a gargantuan building.Love how stark the S is against the white building I would have gone bigger with the S but this looks tasteful for the long term. It keeps more focus on the scale and presence of the building than the sign on it.
Any night time pictures yet? There's an LED outline around the S at night; it looks sharp. Better, in my opinion, than it looks in daylight.

Please tell me the LEDs are orange... or at least not blue.
Is there a pinkish hue?I'll try to remember to snap one today or tomorrow. It's really a nice look.
Ha, it's actually close to a white/blue as an outline for the S, but I bet you're going to love it. Understated but eye-catching at the same time, and it doesn't distract from the colored lights on Manley.

LEDs tend to be cooler. Usually they are specified to have a yellowish color "temperature" in order to be warmer or to appear more like an incandescent fixture. Given this is outdoors, the intent to get more contrast so that it is legible is a factor so a cooler temp would be called for. It is a truer white, but as we are all used to a yellow tint without knowing it, the true white seems blueish (cooler). The signage is back lit so the edges glow and the shape of the "S" punches out from the wall of the facility. It is a timeless and classy look in my opinion. Orange lighting would have been too Vegas IMO and we'd hate it in five years as cheesy.A rosy glow.
This is pretty much off topic but - I spent 5 days in Chicago a couple of months ago. It was my first ever visit. One of the things I absolutely loved about the place was fantastic amount of old school neon signs on businesses. It was art. It was awesome.
Stopped to take this pic on the way home from dinner last night. View attachment 49869
