CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Due to a knee injury suffered Thursday in practice, Virginia junior attackman James Pannell will miss the remainder of the 2015 season.

"We are here to support James throughout his rehabilitation," said Virginia men's lacrosse head coach Dom Starsia. "He will continue to assume a leadership role during this period."

Pannell (Smithtown, N.Y.) was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after his six-goal performance against then-No. 8 Cornell. Pannell has started all six of UVa's games and concludes the season with 11 goals and four assists.

In 37 career games Pannell has tallied 57 goals and 73 career points.

was the reason they beat cornell.

The goalie was the other reason. Sucks for him. Hate to see season's end like that.

Pannell could have been the difference today after they woke up. UVA and Cuse have had some slow starts recently but Cuse, luckily, has the firepower to get back into games.

UVA played some inspiring lacrosse after falling behind early. Turned out to be a great game. Feel terrible for Pannell. Hope he can return to full strength next year, such a talented player.
