Has Dion going to the Lakers at #17 and Melo also going to the Lakers at #20. BTW...this mock was updated on 02/09/2012. Not saying that I agree with this prediction (I actually think Fab will go in the top 10), but it's interesting regardless.

if Dion isnt a lottery pick, a bunch of teams need new talent scouts

From 13-23 3 UNC, 3 UK and 3 Cuse players get picked. Crazy stretch.

It's going to be pretty hard for dion to get into the lottery unless he starts picking it up a bit. His play has tailed of recently besides the uconn game. I do think fab will be a
Lottery pick. The two questionable players above our guys are Meyers Leonard and Kendall Marshall. I really don't get the obsession with Marshall, he can pass, but he can't shoot, is slow, and doesn't play a lick of defense. Leonard seems a bit soft to me, and it's not like Illinois is anything special.

If the pundits are knowledgeable, they are naming the underclassmen expected to leave.

Really dont want to lose Kris, Scoop, and then Dion and Fab. Thats alot of scoring and talent leaving. I also dont like JB talking bout likely guys leaving during the season.

Call me crazy, but I don't think Dion is going to be a star at the next level. Stars have to work hard. Once he gets paid, I just can't see this kid being motivated. Fab on the other hand...the sky is the limit. They don't grow 'em that big and athletic very often. I just don't think Dion's shooting stroke is NBA quality.

I dont know if you use that website regularly but I used to, and it has tailed off, the forum on there use to have crazy traffic, but like I said it has tailed off. There were few people here that dont like the site or the rankings...I've have stopped using it for the most part.

yea he doesn't work hard

Anyone can set up a website with draft predictions doesn't make them worth anything. In fact I'll be opening my site tomorrow and the picks are pure genius.

If Fab leaves...I'd love to see him get picked by the Heat, perfect piece for the Heat and landing spot for him.

I don't remember anyone saying these mock draft sites are worth anything. Everyone knows that they are pure speculation...intended for entertainment. Anyone who takes these things seriously, especially this far before the draft, is a .

I posted the link to this particular site because, for one, it had both Dion and Fab entering the draft. I also found it interesting that this particular person thinks that they will be both be selected by the same team, the Los Angeles Lakers, in the latter half of the 1st round. Take it for what it is, and if you think you could come up with a better mock draft...go ahead and post your own.

A couple of analysts have said they think Dion will be a better pro than a college player. I tend to believe that. He's able to get to the rim like Kemba and has an NBA body.

I'm very skeptical of Waiters making a big impact in the NBA. I just don't see it personally. He has the body, but he's still a little undersized for his position, has poor shooting form, doesn't shoot well anyway, and doesn't seem to have that great of a basketball IQ in my opinion, he's been forcing his game the past 5 or 6 games now and he's looked pretty bad in the vast majority of them.

Sorry, I edited your comment. Not that I disagree with your sentiments but I am put off by the use of the word. Thanks.

fwiw, nbadraft doesnt take teams into consideration. they just list the teams where they are projected to pick and then rank the players.

so basically, they have dion and fab as the 17th and 20th best players. and it just so happens the lakers pick at both of those spots.

Dion has really tailed off the last few weeks. I'd think his stock has fallen a decent amount.

Jeremy Lamb going at number 5 has to be someone's idea of a joke. I feel bad for him - because of Kemba he has become the most over-rated player in college basketball..

Has everyone not been paying attention to Dion's defense this year? He's got it all from an NBA perspective.

If he's not involved offensively, he isn't one of those guys who will do other things for you. That may change as he gets older, but he's like a lot of these young kids... if the offensive game isn't going... he's sulking a bit. It's not like he's a pure PG or a pure SG either, he's a true combo. I think he'll still get drafted around the end of round 1/early round 2 and someone will hope to make him a point guard in the league.

Midway through the year I would have said Dion should go. But with his play tailing off a bit I think the best thing he could do for himself is come back one more year and use it to become an NBA caliber PG. He's never going to be a pure pass first guy, but he can become a lot more balanced in that regard. Use the offseason and next year to improve his handle and his shot and enter next years draft as a more complete PG coming off a dominant championship team. He's be a top 5 pick as opposed to late 1st he'd probably be now.
