I was researching how well thought off Manny Diaz is. Found this article that talks about what happened behind the scenes when he was replaced as the UT DC when Mack Brown was still the HC there.

Not good when a HC thinks GRob is a better DC than you are.

Diaz strikes me as a younger and more composed version of Scott Shafer, but less disciplined and still fascinated with gimmicks and trendy wrinkles. Same MO though, attack. This will be a great test to see if we've made some strides since the MTSU game. They will do the same things, disguised overloads and coverages. We need those quick bubble screens to be caught and punish them when they blitz. I also want to see 4 verts and shots into the seam when catching them in cover 3. We need to put up points this game to win. To me this is literally MTSU away with way better athletes and not as savvy of a QB. Let's go!

Good find, SWC needs to put this in Why We Will Win.

Funny that we get Mack Brown in the booth last week and his former DC this week. And have connections with former 2-time Texas DC (Gerg) and former co-offensive coordinator (awkward title if there ever was one) Major Applewhite.

Browns strength was recruiting players. Decisions like that and coaching, not so much.
