Yes, a lot to be pleased with and a lot to be frustrated with as well. We doubled them up in total yards, have a stud RB and the defense balled out. Offense will have some question marks heading into next year (QB production and consistency among them), which we already knew. Team is desperate for 1-2 productive wide receivers and here’s hoping the OL takes the next step…
I can’t imagine either team is happy with how poor the field held up…

Shrader has to take the next step as well. With an average OL, SU will be in good hands next season. Minnesota wasn't a 10.5 favorite if you watched the game even with them being up by two scores in the fourth. A lot closer than the score indicated. Game was lost by mistakes.
The pick 6 on a good field doesn't happen, Garrett would have knocked him out of bounds.
Special teams was absoululy terrible, Pena brings nothing to the team, he needs to move on.
He isn't good at returns, and is a complete waste as a receiver.

Oh I totally agree we are the better team. I hate losing , but I am oddly calm. If we came out and lost 42-7 I would be much more disappointed than I am right now because Minny is, in my opinion, a paper tiger. We outplayed them but they won the stat that counts- points. Kudos to them. But agree, we just need to find a way to get a productive OL and I think that will clean up some other areas…

Yeah, I'm not upset at all. Minnesota was loaded on both sides of the ball. This could have been a lot worse.

Would love to know why beck wasn’t wearing a headset. That field was absolutely awful. Allen will be good. Love GS heart and fight. Overall it’s about what I expected other than the play calling component which I would love answers on
There is room for some Grad Asst to do some work, maybe a treatise or something, that show with Garrett we can be a good passing team, but it’s a VERTICAL passing team, not outs and what-not.
We showed time and again tonight it doesn’t work, then get on a roll with a chance to take the lead and get back to it. Just not a good play or play call.
We have a good QB but he is not a precision QB pumping bullets into out-stretched hands like an Oklahoma guy or something.

Bailey and Wax balled out on D. Also where did Bailey come from?! He was super impressive out there. Max is a great leader on D. Really loved watching him encourage the rest of the guys on D even when they gave up a TD. He’s a leader out there.

Agree. The weird part is he’s more precise throwing upfield than he is across the field. Maybe that’s normal ldk. He got some tight throws into coverage over the middle of the field.
We would have still been in the game if we don't give up a 72 yard return on a kickoff. Which set up the last TD.

We only saw Beck one time and he didn’t have a headset on. We need to give it a rest. One sighting isn’t a full game without a headset.

For what ever reason his throws to the middle of the field (both long and short) are so much more crisp and accurate. When he throws it outside, you rarely see a good throw. That and when he tries a touch pass. I still want to know what happened the 4th Q of BC. Those throws came out of nowhere. Haven't seen him throw it with authority and accuracy outside of that Q.

Exactly! I was one of the posters who initially pointed out he didn't have the headset on, but unless I missed him being shown again, it was 5 seconds in over 3 hours.
Maybe but his throw to Allen over the middle was bad, and he severely under threw the free play due to their offside. He's not accurate.

What a frustrating game. Another typical Babers loss. We know the book on him by now. Undisciplined team. Bad, "unforced" penalties that kill drives and/or prevent having a chance to win. And since Justin Lustig left, below average ST.
Remember the calls for Beck as the next HC? Is he even a reasonable P5 OC? The offense looked like the second half of the season. Not not able to attack down field with any consistency, lots of side throws/runs that don't go anywhere, OL unable to pass block, dependent on great running by the QB to produce anything, large portions of the game with no effectiveness - nearly the entire 1st half.
Special Teams - Can SU offer a pile of money to Justin Lustig and hire him back from Vanderbilt, please?

That seemed to me to be miss timing from the field conditions. Allen wasn't running full speed.

The book on Minnesota's defense is to attack the outside as their strength is up the middle
Sure we got way to cute on a bunch of plays and had some What calls
Overall I think we had a fair game plan and of course the big mistakes cost us

Yeah maybe stat wise. But the offense only scored 2 TDs. And passing 51 times will likely get you a pick, and passing to edge, a pick 6. So now you're effectively at 1 TD in the game. We have to get better at scoring TDs.
fix the oline.. the lack of being able to really run the ball inside the 20 or when we need first downs limits everything.
if we dont break a scramble or long run we dont seem to get thru the red zone with TDs on the ground.
