You drill down into things and you see some stuff

Ala played 5 decent teams and went 4-1 (LSU-Mizz-Tenn-Ga-USC)
Ala played 3 games vs OK teams and went 1-2 (Vandy-OK-aub)
Ala Played 4 games vs teams they should not lose to and went 4-0 (WKY-USF-Mercer-Wisc)

SU played 5 decent teams and went 3-2 (GT-Miami-BC-Pitt-UNLV)
SU played 5 games vs ok Teams and went 5-0 ( Ohio-NC st-Cal-Uconn-VT)
Su played 2 teams they should not have lost and went 1-1 (Stan-HC)

So SU is 8-2 vs Ala 5-3 in the games that were solid teams
But Ala also played 4 vs the 2 that SU played against bad teams. Had Ala played a harder schedule what happens.

Yet also ALa SOS is like 17 vs our 71. It shows you how skewed SOS is because of the who the teams you played/Played thing is.

Georgia and Bama have weaknesses too. I think this team would be dangerous in the playoffs. It's not as if everyone in the current top 12 is head and shoulders better than Syracuse.

And that's why Fran is going to shock Tennessee next year. They will believe all the hype, and Fran is going to bushwhack them.

Not necessarily. They would have been 6-0 and around 11-13th in country. Losing to undefeated Pitt on the road at that time wouldn’t have dropped them much. That only leaves the BC loss. The win vs Miami could have pushed them over the top. They would be ranked ahead of Miami so it would be the same Miami vs Alabama argument except Syracuse vs Alabama and we have a far better resume. I think they would have been 11th.

If Ala had beaten Vandy and OK they would have 7 wins vs teams under .500 We had 1.

if you want to say Ala maybe had a higher upside in talent thats fine.

Also, Ala only lost to one ranked team. Vandy and Ok were not that good.

Ga escaped but gave back the Ala game.. too bad they didnt reverse that.
